i just ordered the hobby boss 1/72 diesel for the k-5 rr gun. also have another BR-52 and KARL mortear with rail carrier. and a DORA. in 1/35 have the first 4 (no DORA) the BR-86 tank (NOT PANZER OR ARMORED) locomotive and a couple of cars. in 1/35 i have to make a billion rail holders as german rail lines apparently did not just spike the rails like in America.

CROSSOVERS - WOW ! !

HI :

Listen , I got exposed to TRAINS in a big way this month .I now docent at the NEW BRAUNFELS , TEXAS train museum .Did you know the WALTHERS catalogue is full of stuff that  armor , plane and vehicle builders can use ?

I,ve known this for some time , but , this experience really has brought it home .All the fiddley bits on models can come from other sources and scales. They will look right too.

Here,s a good fer instance - I always liked building my personal scratch - built ships in train scales . WHY ? Well think of all the hatches ,doors and other bits in train detail packs. then there,s the people .a well populated ship POPS at a show. Especially when they appear to be doing shipboard related things - ie. reflecting life on board , as it were .

Now there are other things you can use too .I have adopted train wheel sets as modified bogies on what -if type armor lightskins. This is primarily the side bolsters . Well  , the list goes on and on .Try it ,  you may be amazed how much further your imagination and skills will take you doing this . The only thing is , when you do this , don,t do what I did and try for say a post - panamax container ship . My gosh , in H.O. scale she,s almost five and a half feet long .I DO NOT have much shelf space left ! !  Happy Modeling - - - Tankerbuilder
