ROCKS and RUDDERS
Posted by tankerbuilder on Thursday, January 17, 2013 8:41 AM

HMMM ,ROCKS ?

I recently got a thought about that bridge incident in S.F. BAY . I think the think to bear in mind here is this .How in the heck could someone hit something that obvious ? There are places in S.F. BAY you DON'T want to go with anything bigger than a punt .

Case in point , When my skimmer boat ( The CAPE MOHICAN spill operation ) hit bottom and it a landing craft from WW-2   , IN THE BAY ! we actually damaged a rudder on rocks , in a place where there weren't supposed to be rocks .   Now , how do you exsplain that to the boss ?

The thing is ,Don't go anywhere without guidelines . Those guidelines , whether in computer - on line forums , or any other venue are there for a reason . As a former mariner , I know mistakes can be made , but we need not exacerbate the situation with bad behavior . RIGHT ?

I hereby ask all , to be civil and courteous . We will definitely enjoy it more if that is adhered to.. Just a thought . Tanker-builder
