1/24th scale civilian aircraft?
Posted by alex1056 on Sunday, April 14, 2013 10:28 AM

Hey all, not sure where to ask this as i'm new to this forum, but here goes. I'm building a diorama in 1/24 scale, and want to add 1 or 2 small prop planes. Any ideas where to look? I have tried some of the major websites but no luck. Thank you. Alex.

I don't think you will find much .I do know that there paper models out there that would fill the bill . There is/was a fellow that did 1/24 civilian aircraft .His name is BOB KAELIN in RIVERHEAD N.Y. . Bob does a nice line of small craft .Before you say no , think about this .I have built now at least eight of his planes and after building and using spray clearcoat on them . they are as nice as any plastic kit .I do paper to get a break from the world of plastic . Don't say no .Give BOB a call .       Tanker-builder .

I realise you're looking for civilian a/c, but could we interest you in any WWII fighters or a maybe a helicopter?

Airfix has several 1/24 scale a/c, including:

  • Spitfire Mk.1a
  • Messerschmitt Bf 109E
  • P-51D
  • BAE Sea Harrier FRS1
  • P-51K
  • Focke Wolfe FW-190A
  • Ju 87B Trop StuKa
  • Hawker Siddley GR.3/AV-8A Harrier

Revell makes a 1/24 Huey (millitary version of Bell 204)

Trumpeter has over a dozen different WWII fighters: Japenese Zero's and a Rufe (Seaplane!), several Spitfires, P-51 Mustangs, Hurricanes, Bf-109's and FW-190s.

Check Squadron's web site for a full list.
