A Memorial Day thank you.
Posted by Back to the bench on Monday, May 27, 2013 9:13 PM

My wife and I attended the memorial day ceremonies at our local veterans memorial today. It was a solemn reminder that many of the things we hold most dear were (and are) purchased at a mighty price. To all of you who have served I express my deepest gratitude. And to those who deal with the loss family and friends who paid the ultimate price for our freedom you are in our thoughts and prayers.Broken Heart

Thank you, Gil.  I lost an uncle in WWII and a brother-in-law, a young Marine, early in the Viet-Nam war.  I have never forgotten them. Coincidentally, his name was Gil, too.

I want to thank you for your sentiments .

Although I served for eighteen and a half years  ,I never got a scratch .I am proud to have worn my adopted country's uniform . I was adopted as a baby . I didn't know about all that till I was a young man . Now , that said . It was with pride I served , and , a sense of duty to the country , and folks like you too . My brother didn't make it out of FALLUJAH  , so Yes ,  there are those families that have lost a loved one .They too ,  I am sure ,  thank you for your thoughts . May our flag always fly over this great land . I didn't post till now as I did so much want to help others who served too ,  and I let the time get away .Bless You . Heart         Tanker-builder
