Watched the episode on the U Boat pens last night on the DVR.  Another well done episode!  I knew they were mammoth sized, but I never knew how intricate they were as well.

One of the more interesting weapons was a London gun. The V-3 secondary propellant weapons were used during the Ardennes Offensive against Luxembourg, The RAF destroyed the two aimed at Britain.

Saddam Hussein built a similar weapon to launch various weapons either into space or into Israel.

Far more interesting are the experiments by that guns designer, Gerald Bull; his death and the various super guns the US tested.

Just finished watching it.  Overall it seems to have been well done.  I am actually very interested in the V-2 one, and am interested what they have in store for episodes 4 to 6.

I love my DVR.  I set it to record the whole series as it comes on, since 10:00 is "past my bed time". Big Smile

Nazi Mega Weapons on PBS
Posted by New Hampshire on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 7:06 PM

Happened to be watching a show on PBS a few minutes ago and at the end of it I saw a promo segment on a new 6 part series called Nazi Mega Weapons.  I though some here would be interested.  First episode, on the Atlantic Wall, is on tonight at 10:00pm. (I assume it is all PBS stations and not just mine.)  A quick Google search turned up this info off the PBS website:

In a quest for world domination, the *** built some of the biggest and deadliest pieces of military hardware and malevolent technology in history. This new six-part series recounts World War II from a unique new perspective, uncovering the engineering secrets of iconic megastructures, telling the stories of the engineers who designed them and revealing how these structures sparked a technological revolution that changed warfare forever. Wednesdays, July 17-31, 10:00-11:00 p.m. ET

“Atlantic Wall” (w.t.)
This is the story of the greatest fortification project of the 20th century, Hitler’s ambitious Atlantic Wall, and the ultimate test it faced on D-Day.

“U-Boat Pens” (w.t.)
This episode describes the immense and impenetrable concrete and steel submarine pens that the *** built to protect their precious and deadly U-boats from Allied attacks.

“V2 Rocket” (w.t.)
This episode relates the development of the first ever space missiles used by the *** as destructive wonder-weapons to bomb the Allies into resignation and the rocket engineer who set the groundwork for the moon landing."
