Yes, I met someone on line about 15 years ago who became a close friend.  He was running a web site about early TV science fiction shows, which is my interest too.  I've gone  to many film festivals with him and got to know his wife and family.  Through him, I met some of the few surviving TV actors from the 50's who were my heroes as a kid.  I even got to play a role in several re-creations of the old radio shows on stage with them, before large audiences, at the Williamsburg Film Festival.  What a thrill!

If anyone remembers, the show was "Tom Corbett, Space Cadet", hence my on-line name is "Cadet Chuck".

My goodness , in your picture , you don't look old enough to remember  "TOM CORBETT !  " Neat show that ! The only one I got any mileage out of I am sorry to say is the " Howdy Doody Show " I was in the  "Peanut Gallery "when I was eight  !  Went on to play " DON   VITO CORLEONE " in little theater .Never got the space stuff though .By the way I like your space models .    Tanker - Builder .

Thanks for the compliments, Tanker-Builder!  Yes,  I'm old enough.  I was nine years old when "Tom Corbett" first went on the air.  Neat that you got to be in the Peanut Gallery.  I understood it was not easy to get tickets for that.  Great memories, huh?

Yeah , I guess they were hard to get .Remember though in the early years they were filmed live in the studios of WBEN- T.V channel.4. in Buffale N.Y.  I think my dad lucked out and got given the ticket from someone who had to move so his kid couldn't go .The station approved and there you go the rest was history " hey ,Kids! what time is it , " it's HOWDY DOODY TIME ! "

I'm glad you got to meet your pal tankerbuilder. Back in late 2010 or early 2011  I met on this site  a fine gentleman named John Staworski (screen name JStaworski) from Ft Walton Beach, Fl. We corresponded quite frequently and talked  about models, building techniques, life, our families, kids, etc. He even sent my wife a Mother's Day card one time. He was USAF retired and had recently lost his wife to an illness.   We were in the middle of moving from South Carolina back to Florida and lost touch for a couple of months. Once settled down in Central Florida I attempted to email and PM John several times but not getting any response. I found this odd as he had mentioned that he was going to have some kind of surgery soon. To make a long story short, I found his name on the obituaries of Ft Walton Beach. Never got the opportunity to even say goodbye.

On the Forum, a few years ago, I met Dubau (Bud) and Padakr (Paul) who live in my area. Through the FSM gallery, I met 2 other great guys who live near me. We've been getting together around once a month for the last few years and gone to Mosquitocon and PennCon together. We've added two other guys to the group from our area. During this time, we've become good friends. I have learned a lot from each one of them.

Hey Tanker, I loved Princess SummerFallWinterSpring. I was on Bandstand in '57 & '58. The studio was only three blocks away from school. The teachers used to watch it to catch kids that skipped detention. *** Clark signed my high school yearbook.

This is what I mean .You go through life and the little things stick out years later . Then you meet someone with the same interests and life is good .I am sorry you didn't get to meet him .When I worked part time in a Fancy " upscale " restaurant in Anaheim , CA. I got to meet some of the movie types looking for a place where they could sit and enjoy their meal without being hassled for who they were .Now at 70 ,I go to a V.A. Hospital named after one of them .Yep ! AUDIE MURPHY ! There were others there that I won't mention .Life is short .If you can get together with those folks then do so .Just putting a face to a name and a warm handshake can mean a lot Junkie !

Wow, you met Murph! He was one heck of a humble guy. I photographed his dog tags and the Medal of Honor in DC. I also found his grave at Arlington.

Yes , i did . He was with some other of his Hollywood pals .John and Pilar Wayne , Ernest and Tova Borgnine  and and Peter Lorre .And they came in for dinner .My waiter got sick ( I was head bus for that station ) so the boss gave me his coat and said do it .That's how I met them , my first nite and first table as a new waiter .AUDI was indeed soft spoken and respectful .I will never forget that day believe me .I wish I still had the tip they gave me .A hundred dollar bill with their autographs on it !

HOLY CRAP! The Duke, and Quinton McHale! I would have probably spilled the orders on them. You are so lucky to have had such an experience. The closest I got to meeting  a celeb was Joe Di Maggio as he was coming out of a Chinese restaurant in South Dade County, Florida some years back. He stood on the sidewalk and I was about 20 ft away. I was in my unmarked police vehicle and even had a camera to take a picture with him but I remembered how Mickey Mantle got nasty with fans so I didn't approach him. figuring he may get upset then I find out that he actually enjoyed signing autographs and taking pictures with fans.
