Any one from South Eastern Wisconsin remember a story that appeared in The Milwaukee Journal about some town in the Northern part of Wi wanting a Sherman tank for their VFW .
What I remember is that the Army said we have some tanks you want one, well few guys got together went to the base picked out a tank and drove the thing back to the town. They would drive it in parade's for a few year's ,then they parked it in front of the VFW hall and welded the hatch's shut.
This story appeared back when the Journal had the green sheet. Time line some time in the70's ??
