WWII in Color
Posted by Chrisk-k on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 2:29 PM

I frequently watch "WWII in Color" on the Military Channel.  I find it interesting (and kinda ridiculous) to see a lot of German tanks in "green."  I guess film restorers had no idea about German tank colors and assumed that it must have been green.

although i have never seen that particular show,     i have seen a bit of colored stuff in my time  . i have heard/read several times over the last 50 yrs that there was lots of color film during the war on all sides ,but approx 80% of lost war film was most of the color stuff

Unfortunately, whoever they have doing the colorizing for that show does a mediocre job at best. I would much rather see the original B&W footage, than the poorly done work on that series.

At least, they had a common sense to use "yellow" on Afrika Korps tanks.

There was another "colorized" series titled GI Diary narrated by Lloyd Bridges a few years back. That too is probably questionable with the color selection.

GI Diary is from the 1970s. I remember watching it as a kid. That was before computer colorization.
