While at the hobby shop, I asked if they had a website. They do and they gave me their business card. This is the website:

www.leestoyandhobby.com

The store is located in Groton, CT - located a mile and a half from the hotel we were staying at.

It's always good to combine vacation with hobbying.

And that kind of well-stocked hobby store seems like a dinosaur itself these days.

Got back home from my trip to Mystic, Connecticut. We had a really nice time and the weather's been great. I did get the chance to stop by the hobby shop near the hotel we were staying at. Walked in and thought HOLY CRAP!!!!! Lookit all these kits! Yeah - my eyes got all bug eyed and started drooling over the amount of kits they had in stock. It had far more armor, aircraft, ships, and auto kits than the two hobby shops and Hobby Lobby combined! They carried a full selection of Tamiya acrylics, spray paints, Model Master enamel & acrylics and Citadel paints as well.

The main reason for the stop in was to pick up a few bottles of Tamiya paints and a couple Model Master acrylic bottles while there. If I had more time, I would have picked up a kit as well but thought better of it since I promised the missus I wouldn't spend too much time there.

But wait - there's more - they also carried R/C stuff, trains and various hobby magazines to modeling. Heck they even had a very small display of baseball trading cards for sale. Oh yeah my son picked up a couple of toys for himself since they also carried toys and games as well.

I did see an oldie kit I used to have when I was my son's age - the T-Rex snap kit by Aurora (remember those?.) Didn't see how much he was selling it for since it was on the top shelf. Yes - it was a good day for me.

In New England? Yes, they serve sweet tea. It comes in a tall glass with a long spoon and sugar packets on the table.

This is our third trip out there and an easy drive. Planning on hitting the Mystic Seaport, Old Mystic Village, Mystic Aquarium, USS Nautillus submarine museum, Stonebridge, shopping and a boat ride. Oh yeah, and getting a little bit of seafood for dinner too! Can't skip out on Mystic Pizza as well for lunch.

Looks like my models are going to be put on hold for awhile. Heading to Mystic, CT for a few days next week. Hoping to check out a hobby shop on the last day in nearby Groton before heading home.
