My condolences and thoughts and prayers to the family.  

It's impossible for me to think of any adequate words for such a situation. I don't have any kids of my own, but I do have three stepchildren. My wife has said several times that the most awful duty a parent can have is that of burying a child. Having attended a funeral where a neighbor couple had to do just that, I have no trouble believing her.

Please convey my deepest sympathy to the bereaved.

I'll be glad to pray.  I've seen a number of parents lose children over the years--very heart-breaking.  You never expect to outlive your children.

I cant imagine... simply cant fathom such a loss.  Definitely makes me want to hug my family more often.

Indeed, it's not a problem. I like to say something comforting but as Jtilley said above there aren't really any adequate words for such a situation.  

Having lost a son (still birth at 7 months), the most important thing you can do is be there for the grieving parent and be willing to listen.  There are no words which you can say, but your presence and willingness to listen as they tell the story will speak volumes.  My condolences to the family and my prayers as well.

No parent should ever bury their child and no young child should ever go through the heart break of losing their parent.  My prayers and thoughts will be with that family today.

Our prayers WILL be out to the whole family!  As stated, I can't even begin to fathom what a loss like that is to a child.  Again, we will pray for peace and strength in the family.

Thank you so much guys for the support.  He and his family would thank you too.  I sent out a card not too long ago.  He lives a ways away but I plan on trying to see him soon.  

My most sincere condolences,thoughts and Prayers as well to the Family for the loss.

My prayers have already gone out. I lost my brother to a head on collision in 1998 (not his fault)  But not knowing the right words is correct. I also lost my daughter ( She is still alive ) to drugs I think she is on crystal meth and crack. I've had no contact with her in almost 4 years (in November).

I am terribly sorry to hear about your brother and daughter Ken.  Hopefully she can find a good path to follow and live soon.  It certainly is possible and not unheard of by any means.  

A good friend of mine was a meth cook and turned his whole life around in the last numbers of years.  He went to prison, did some major thinking. He got out and took a job as a flooring installer for a few years. He eventually went to college (Where I met him) and graduated at the age of 50 in Computer Drafting Science (He had never touched a computer before this).  I cant believe how far he came from where he was.  He's quite happy and I make sure to mention how proud he should be of himself.  He tends to not give himself enough credit and want to look at the past too much.  I tell him only to use the past as a reminder of how far he has come and not to measure himself by past mistakes but by the huge gains he has successfully made.  I hope the best for your daughter's situation Ken!

Talked to Glen a week ago or so.  Seems to be doing pretty good.  Again thank you all for the support, prayers, best wishes, and kindness for him. I know it helped! :)
