I have one of the Polar Lights 1/350 USS Enterprise Refits about 90% built collecting dust in my closet.  I started it about 7 years ago back when I was getting back into modeling.  This kit really lends itself to lighting and I put alot of work into lighting it up...about 150 LEDs!  As I progressed on the Enterprise, though, my skills as a modeler were improving from building other aircraft kits simultaneously.  Well, as my skills improved I began to realize how much better I could have done on the Enterprise if I had already built much of it with my lessor skills.  Now I see all the stuff that I'm going to have to go back to and fix on the Enterprise and I'm just not looking forward to it.  But I know that it will be worth it when I do finally get around to it.

Here's where's she's been at for the last 4 years:

I've got a Hasegawa 1/48 F-4G waiting in the wings.  I purchased the Aires resin cockpit upgrade and a few other items to get it exactly the way I want it.  I'm still waiting to find decals for the version I want to create.  That, and I'll admit I'm a bit intimidated by the resin since I have never worked with it before.  I want to make sure my skills are sharp before tackling an unknown realm.

I know it's too late to appear in the February issue of FSM but I do have a few.

I bought some kits, mostly because they were dirt cheap, knowing full well I don't have the skills right now to tackle them with any sign of doing a good job. Some of them I had for more than 2 years now.

Like the Dragon M7 Priest in 1/35 scale, or the Hobby Boss Sdkfz 222 also in 1/35 scale. Totally afraid to start them because, well, as of now I'm sure I will botch the job big time.

But my pride and joy, and the fact that I got this kit new for less than 1/3 of the normal price is the huge Tamiya M26 Dragon Wagon. But I won't begin this kit this year, and maybe not next year either.

In my stash I also have a few ship kits with a lot of multimedia parts in them ... 

Have a Revel 1/32nd F4E waiting since around 1998 for the dormant skills to show up.  After a 20 year lapse of building, have got the Hasegowa 1/48th RF4E to get my feet wet again.  When I find the "E" this winter I will probably get started on her.  I have to do something with my evenings since my wife passed away or go nuts.

I received Accurate Miniature’s 1/48 scale B-25 C/D 345th Bomb Group Air Apache as a gift about 10 years ago. It was way over my skill level when I got it and even now it is intimidating, as there were not that many made. This past summer I started researching the subject because I want to build it as accurately as I can. Maybe when I graduate college I will finally start it. Until then I will slowly but surely continue to research the subject.

I have the MPM He177A-5 with the Big Ed photo etch waiting on my skills to catch up. Also on the shelf are three Classic Airframes Avro Ansons, DML M1A1 AIM, DML Panther G, a couple AM Avengers, ...well, the list goes on.  One day.

Thanks for looking. I appreciate it. I seem to remember seeing an article along those lines, several years ago. I was told by a salesman at a hobby shop once that you can use RC servos as the propulsion to get more control. I'll get around to it..someday.

Yeah, that PT boat is a good one as well. More stable? too.

Sorry I couldn't be more help but the article was really an in depth build involving serious modifications. I tried for several hours to hunt it down but was un able to find it.

 I like the big Lindberg PT Boat, another RC candidate and a bit easier to detail.

I purchased Iron Shipwrights 1/350 USS Rudderrow, with the intention to convert it to the USS Formoe. My father served aboard the USS Formoe from 1951 to 1953. It will be my first resin build. This being the case, I'd like to get a few more builds completed before I attempt this build. This build will have a lot of personal emotion attached to it, since my father passed away four years ago. I wish he was still here to give it to him in person, but, Instead, I will give it to my mother in his honor.

I recall reading an article about this very same kit and how to bring it up to fairly accurate standards. I can't recall where I saw the article but you can probably find it if you google this particular model.

The very first kit in my stash. The Lindberg Destroyer. I bought it 15 years ago, with plans to make it RC, and geared to scale speed. As far as I know, it's still intact in the box. I have not built it yet because my focus has been aircraft modelling, with a hesitation towards the RC complexities. A severe case of procrastination.

I have the big Revell Flower Class Corvette. I bought it before the fancy version with lots of PE and stuff came out.  I will have to build a lot of scratch things, like a new main gun.  So keep putting it off both because it will be all over my workbench it is so big, plus the amount of work I will need to do.

I have the old Bandai 1/24 Shiden 21 N1K2-J (George) that I found on Ebay about 4 years back. I have been putting off building it for two reasons. The first one is lack of display space. Once the weather cools off a bit, I will be able to make a good sized display case in my garage. Being a woodworker, I can make one to my own specifications. It gets pretty hot in there so I need cooler weather.

The second reason is the extensive modifications needed to make the model accurate. Though it has a full engine, it is missing tons of details such as oil tanks, wiring, plumbing and other parts. The cockpit needs some serious modifications as the included IP doesn't resemble the actual one. I have been gathering my documentation and some PE details for the cockpit. Eduard doesn't make Japanese instruments in 1/24 so I have some German ones that resemble the Japanese version.

Hopefully I should be able to get to this huge beast in the not so distant future.
