A Batman stamp
Posted by Gordon D. King on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 4:57 PM

Attention Batman fans. The postal service has announced the issuance of a Batman stamp. It is being issued in observance of the 75th anniversary of Batman. It is being issued on October 9. It features Batman in the original blue and gray uniform, the one us old-timers grew up with. I can't wait to buy a sheet.

I remember that version of Batman; one of my very first comic books was that Batman using a pistol to kill a vampire.

Edit, had to Google search it. He used silver bullets to kill the vampire and his female thrall; that had placed his girlfriend under his spell.

I'm still flabbergasted that Batman is 75 years old!  It's amazing how the style of Batman has changed over the years from the grey long-john-wearing crime fighter of back then to the all-black-wearing armor-plated Batman of today.

Interestingly, today I went by the post office after hours and used their kiosk to buy stamps. The machine printed out Spider-Man stamps.

The Batman stamps are nice. There are four different uniforms with four stamps each for a total of 16 plus four Bat signal round stamps.

It was my intention to buy Batman stamps, but my mom called and delayed me just enough so the office closed when I arrived. Got Spidey instead, my favorite superhero.

Please forgive the slight detour, but did you ever build the re-issue of that AURORA Spiderman kit?

I did build it. It wasn't a straight reissue, they increased the size of the kit. As a kid, I built the smaller one. As an adult, I built the larger copy by Polar Lights. While in college, I built an MPC one that allowed Spider-Man to hang on the wall with some sticky tack putty. I still have that one and the Horizon vinyl ones (original red/blue standing one and white vinyl crouching one).

I won an award for figures with the reissued one when it came out.

Congrats on that award!
I recently bought the MPC version of the old AURORA Batman kit intending to obtain the Adam West  head for it.
Now that a much more realistic Adam West version is due out, I plan to buy and build the kit as well as the villains.
I still want a Victor Buono King Tut...............Big Smile
.BTW......I notice that Hallmark has issued a tv Batman ornament for those who liked the tv series
.
I have been tempted to buy the Polar Lights Spiderman figure.
Any good? Hmm
