Is it Winter Yet?
Posted by Sprue-ce Goose on Saturday, October 4, 2014 8:23 AM

I was riding home on my bicycle this crisp morning when a few drops of rain began to fall , only to quickly change into snow.

Not much snow, but  snow flakes were definitely resting on my gloved hands when I pulled up to my residence.

Had snow during the second week of May this year so I suppose I should expect winter eventually.

I've lived in Northern Illinois for more than half a century and a late snow would have been in early April ; an early snow by Thanksgiving.

If this keeps up I won't bother buying a newer, more efficient air conditioner.

I won't have much use for it.

Hope you folks finished your chores before winter sets in.

Depends on where you are I suppose. We've had a quick cold snap, and three frost warnings already. (As I left a softball diamond two weeks ago, at 11pm, the temp was only 4°C!) But last weekend was GORGEOUS, mid-20s. Meanwhile, some of my friends in Alberta have already dealt with two significant snowfalls.

Maybe "global weirding" is more appropriate than global warming?

Well, on this side of the border, the slant is definitely on the weird side of things..............HmmWhistling

There is definitely a crisp feel in the air, even down here.  Brace yourself...

The iHobby show over the weekend was greeted by very cold, wet and overcast weather which was completely different from the hot, humid, sunny weather last year.

Here in the Houston area, we've had a few cool fronts. It got down into the 50's late last week. Brrr! Surprise Paradise Then, it was crystal clear for a few days. It's great when a front blows through. My favorite time of the year. We get really hot and humid in the summer, so I'll take it. It "might" snow once a winter, but it doesn't stick and it's a non issue on the roads, though everyone flips out. Kinda comical, especially to you folks who get "real" winters!

I could say " it isn't so "
but that would be fibbing...............Wink
in any case , the few snow flakes that fell quickly melted on the ground.
