Just found out when I got home for lunch. Sad, but not surprised. He was admitted to hospital with heart issues not too long ago. Live Long and Prosper Mr. Spock...

Wow.  Like Stik said, and icon from my youth has passed.  Very sad.  He lived long (not long enough) and he certainly prospered!

Will be missed - grew up with him & Shatner as my heroes when I was a kid.

Makes me feel very sad as well.

Very sad.  He'll be missed.

The obit I saw didn't mention that he appeared also on "Combat!" in two episodes, playing a German-speaking GI.

In certain ways, watching Spock from '66 to 69 seems like yesterday.

Sad news for me too.

If your cable service includes METV - it just announced that it's devoting this coming Sunday evening (March1) to "Leonard Nimoy Classics." It showed several 2-second clips; one of them looked like a "Combat" episode.

One thing I regret is that Nimoy got so totally identified with Spock that, from the days of the series onward, he rarely played any other role. I really like "Star Trek." But Nimoy's acting skills went beyond it. I once heard him read Shakespeare on the radio. He clearly was an expert at it

Youth, talent, hard work, and enthusiasm are no match for old age and treachery.

I'm from an age that saw the original series, didn't think about it much back then but they changed the world in ways we're still counting. "Beam me up Scotty" and "Live long and prosper", who doesn't know these lines, all from the original series.

Rest in peace Spock.

While I am too young to have seen the original series when it first aired, I loved them in the re-runs and the movies.  The interactions between Kirk, Spock and Dr. McCoy were some of my favorite parts of the series.  Nimoy was a versatile actor and did quite a bit of voice work over the years.  One place I remember him is in the third Transformers movie, where he was the voice of the main bad guy.  We have lost a talented entertainer and a good man.  Rest well, Leonard Nimoy, and God speed on your way.

I had a high school friend who, after graduation, attended UC Santa Barbara, There she met and befriended one of Mr. Nimoy's daughters. The Nimoys had a residence there in SB and my friend spent a number of nights there as guest of his daughter. Late one evening, the story goes, the two friends felt the need for a midnight snack and were in the kitchen making, as college students are wont to do, a fair bit of noise. This apparently woke Mr. Nimoy, who came into the kitchen and greeted his noisy guests with the famous raised eyebrow of Spock!

Rest in peace, sir.

One of the astronauts on the space station paid tribute to Spock by doing the "salute" while flying over the Boston area. It was very touching to see.
