Thank you PJ. Between my modeling doldrums (I have yet to complete a kit since New Years this year) and the inability to log into the site while I'm mobile, my activity level has been cut back here. I almost did not update this one until I remembered that I had this thread going due to a post on another site where I'm more active nowadays. I'm still around, just not as much.

Thanks for all the kind words guys! He is making us all very proud here. He is taking to Air Force life very well so far. Now it is time to see how he likes it outside the training environment.

WinkWell the next stage of his adventure has arrived. As of last Friday, he completed his Tech school- with a 92% test average overall, and a max score on hist final test. He received commendations for both of those achievements, and also promotion to E-3. His orders came thru the day before yesterday and he will be assigned to Moody AFB as part of the 23rd Wing, 23rd Logistics Readiness Squadron- part of the famed "Flying Tigers"!

I know what my next few US aircraft builds are gonna be...

Well, Stik, your young man really did do you up proud. Great scores on tests and a promotion already, I feel a bit more secure knowing there is another serious and devoted serviceman, "standing the watch."

You did a fine job raising him, you have every reason to feel pride. I wish I was not so far away here in Oregon, if closer on his next leave at home, I'd take you both out for a kick a** burger and a brew.

I'm a former Army 40th Assault Helicopter Company pilot, (1966,) we could swap some tales. Soldier on.

Tanker - Builder

Hey Stik !

Congrats are in order here .Did you fly him around when he was younger ? That'll get them every time . By the way I was in BOTH the Navy and that " Military Cult " Yeah , the U.S.M.C.  --OOO Rah ! !

I hope he does well and he is a credit to all EAGLES out there ! .. T.B.

Yes and no. He got a chance to fly and actually pilot an aircraft when he was in Scouts to earn his aviation merit badge. But the closest he really got to military avaition was coming out the base on 4th of July to see us jump as part of the show put on every year. The families were allowed to be nearby as we rigged up and near the ramp where the Blackhawks would load us up and taxi out.

And he seems to really be enjoying his time at Ft Leonard Wood MO where his tech school is now. I dont know if I mentioned earlier, but he extended his enlistment to 6 years while in Basic. He must be liking the service.

Nice pictures!

B-26C ? Well I'm not one to quibble with Big Blue, looks like a A-26 to me.

Super collection of stuff.

Best wishes and what an adventure.

Thank you my friend. Well the aircraft changed nomenclature twice in AAF/AF service. When designed and built it was indeed the A-26. Post WWII it was re designated the B-26 after the Marauder was retired, and held that designation thru Korea, Bay of Pigs, Congo, and the Farm Gate portion of Vietnam. Then when they were rebuilt by On Mark into K configuration, they were re designated as the A-26.

And yes, what an adventure for him. He really seems to be growing by leaps and bounds now into manhood and is really loving his new place in life.

Thank you guys! We are very much looking forward to our upcoming trip! I have not been to anywhere in Texas since 1987 and my wife and two of my daughters have never been there before. My oldest works in the Oil Industry so they have sent her there once or twice. Good times ahead!

I somehow missed the updates here since last year's news.

A huge thank you to your son for serving, may his years be safe ones.

And y'all enjoy your time in San Antone. I agree with the dawg and was also going to mention checking out the riverwalk whilst there. Funny, I just mentioned that place in a PM to somebody a few hours ago.

Devil Dawg

How's the son doing, Stik? Does he know you're planning on coming out to watch him graduate? It's almost that time!

He's doing well. We have recieved several letters (anybody remember those?) and a phone call while he is there. And yes he knows we are coming out. The Air Force has recruits fill out a package on any guests wanting to attend for background checks. No clearance and they can not attend. Times have changed. I do know that the Air Force has awlways been a bit more about secrecy than any other services that I crossed paths with in the past. We fly out next week for his graduation of Frday the 13th ;)

You'll definitely get a chance to see the Alamo. You also oughta stroll the River Walk, and eat in the restaurant in the top of the Space Needle (I think that what it is called - it's the same as the one in Seattle). Lots of good hobby shops there, too, from what I've read on the forums here.

Black Sheep, Templar, Devil Dawg, and Old Goat, many thanks for your kind words. We have received the 30 second phone call of , "this is my new address". Kind of funny to see it from this side of life. Yes I am quite proud of him. As was said in his swearing in, only 1% of the population nowadays volunteers and makes it to that point of just putting their hand up and taking the oath without being disqualified for whatever reason. But Lord, were we ever that young?

DD, he is slated to graduate in mid May. We are already making preperations for the trip there to watch it. And if I can do one thing there beyond that, it's gonna be the Alamo.
