I Went to An Airshow Today and All I Got Was...

...pictures of aircraft antenna.  Really, I need to back up and see the whole picture!  Wink

I thought the images of the insulators and connectors for the B-17 antenna were interesting.

The Collings Foundation "Wings of Freedom" tour was in Tyler, Texas today and I drove over to visit the B-17, B-24, B-25 and P-51C, in addition to the HAM Museum which has some very interesting and unique aircraft.  How many FJ-4s are still around after all?

I also met some very interesting and nice people, including this gentleman, Bill Halbert

He flew with the 443rd Squadron in B-26s during WWII, then switched over to fighter ops in Korea and Vietnam, flying F-86s and F-100s.  I had the honor of shaking his hand.

Gary

PS> I'll see about uploading some of the 160 pictures I took in a few days to Photobucket so anyone interested can gander at them.

TB,

The Collings Foundation is headquartered in Stow, MA.  They're a transportation oriented organization, and put on other events besides air shows.  But the aircraft are what people are most familar with.  Their website is here:

They've been touring Texas for the past couple of months.

Oh, and Confederate Air Force is fine by me!  "Confederate" is a perfectly good word which simply means "allied".

Gary

PS> Oh, and I'm uploading the photos from the Tyler, Texas event here (in case you didn't see it).  I haven't gotten the Collings Foundation aircraft images loaded yet:
