Thank goodness it is finally spring time!

Maybe it's just me, but the isn't much more personally gratifying than knowing you worked a long, hard week of work, and then busted your hump all Saturday afternoon/evening doing yard work, and getting to sit out on the porch and watch the sun set over your freshly mowed yard while drinking an ice cold beer and watching your daughter color the walkway. Or am I just too easily pleased by the simple things?

Anyone with me?

Everything you said except for the yard work.  I lost all interest in yard work a few years back. It is simply another chore nowdays.  The rest sounds wonderful.                                            gk

I guess I'm with you.  I've done my hard time.  Don't work my butt off all week any more.  Now it's time for me.  Has been since '98.  Don't do yard work any more. I sit on the porch with my favorite drink and watch someone else do it for me or hit the bench to build.

Just knowing that you can go outside without a jacket on is gratifying enough. Now if my daughter is coloring on the driveway I'll have her head examined. She's 21

Some nicer weather has finally reached my area just this weekend. The screen-door is on, windows opened, lawn chair is out. Even my cat seems happy about the change. I don't know, but it sure seems extra special this year.

I agree.  It takes me far longer to mow my lawn than to blow my driveway.  That means I will not get as much modeling time in until next fall.  Winter to me is building season.

This summer is going to be above average temps wise in NYS. Airbrushing in my garage is gonna be off linits due to anticipated humidity. Good thing I bought an airbrush spray booth for my cellar. Building will be outdoors out on the patio under natural bright sunlight.

This year, the wife and I decided that we would farm the mowing of the grass out to the kid who lives across the street. And it's great! Still don't get too much time to work on my models because I went and bought a 1 to 1 J3 Cub from an airline pilot whose wife gave him a choice (Me or the airplane, the choice is yours!). It looks very pretty from about 20 feet away, but up close you see that a lot of modifications have been made without any log book entries approving them (for example I don't consider the replacement of the 1/4" copper tube brake lines called for in the maintenance manual with 1/4" clear polyvinyl plastic tubing or the replacement of the original Cub expanding brakes with a set of older model Cessna 150 disc brakes (there is an STC available for the latter mod) isn't exactly kosher. So for at least the next month or so I'll be involved in the Cub. And of course once the paperwork and other items are done to my satisfaction, I'll have to test fly it. Lots and lots of test flying!

Hi ;

 No , You forgot something else .I was sitting last night at the edge of an open field that's soon to be full of new houses .Thinking about my two wonderful  ladies , And how well life treated me till now.

   I saw a flash just out of the corner of my eye .I turned and found myself surrounded by fireflies . The girls were there with me . Now the sense of serenity and grandeur I felt was really nice .

     A few days away from an age I almost didn't reach , good folks around me and reasonable good health .What more could one ask ? Those fireflies showed me all was as it should be .In other words , don't sweat it , things will work out .

 I inhaled the smell of new mown grass in my neighborhood , Sipped some good cognac some hours later with friends ,  and knew all was right with the world of us regular folks . May your days be good ones .  Tanker - Builder
