U-2 crashes in N. California
Posted by jelliott523 on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 2:03 PM

I was just reading online that a U-2 2-seat trainer has crashed in N. California today. Both pilots reportedly ejected and landed safely, no further details have been released.

The news is now reporting one of the crew did not survive.  Sad...

Very sad to hear this.

There were videos captured showing both pilots ejected - i wonder what went wrong such that one did not survive the ejection.

Pretty violent way of leaving an aircraft. Lot of variables, could have contacted something on the way out, O2 system failure, ground impact, chute failure.......sad that one was lost.

About a 90% chance of survival which isn't wonderful.

33% chance of injury. Spinal, limbs, concussion.
