Rooster

I live about 30 miles north of Orlando in a small town called Oviedo but still nearby within a few minutes drive. St Augustine is just a skip away from us. I think they got hit pretty hard by the last hurricane we recently had but it's a beautiful city rich in history. The Cape is also very close by and you can easily spend most of the day there.

There are a bunch of art museums in Orlando and Winter Park. Tons of places to dine and the nearby city of Mt. Dora has a heck on an antique flea market on the weekends. There is a nice winery at nearby Clermont which actually has hills and doesn't even feel like you are in Florida.

Here's a good site for info:

You could try contacting the convention/visitor's bureau

They should be able to point you in various directions for you interests.  They have a hard rock cafe down here and they may still have a display of artificates from the Titanic on "I" Drive.

Flying Tiger Museum used to be inKississimmee.  They have restored many B-25s and P-51s as well as other aircraft.  Near the space center was a museum for the Confederate A.F. which I think has been renamed.

Maybe someone else can be of more help, sorry but I'm a local and spend most of my time working and usually don't have enough money to go anywhere anymore.

There is a B-52D on display at a small park on the airport property.  It's near the beach line at the west end of the runway partly surrounded by some trees.  The airport was at one time a S.A.C. base named McCoy A.F.B.  SOme of the hangers on the side of the property used to be for tankers and bombers and I think the old Hidden Hilton is still there but now owned by the Army.

Hey all. My family will be taking a trip to Disney World soon. We plan to spend a few days at the part with our niece/nephew and some of the family but will have a few days with just me and my wife. So my question is, what else is there to do around the Orlando area? We both love history and my wife is very into music, so anything related to that or just anything interesting to do in general? We do plan to head over to the Space Center one day, which I'm really looking forward too!
