Photobucket broken?
Posted by Gregifur on Thursday, February 23, 2017 9:57 PM

I'm getting errors on trying to load my Photobucket page, logging in or even requesting a password reset. It tells me my page doesn't exist and neither does my username but when I try to create my account again it tells me that there is an account with my email address.

I'm hoping it isn't just me. No joy on the PC or phone.

Still works for me but it has become increasingly erratic and very, very sloooooowwwwwwwwww (I'm assuming to the zillions of ads they run, probably the pay option without the ads would be faster but I don't want to pay for something that runs that poorly).

I haven't been able to download anything to the forums for the last three days. It is truly worth what I'm paying for it, but I'd like to move on to a dependable hosting site.

There was a thread here recently where a few of you talked about the alternate sites and how to use them, but I can't seem to find it. Anyone have a link?

Thanx!

They keep on "fixing" it...and making it worse.

I can't complain TOO much, as it doesn't cost me anything, aside from the extra time it takes these days. The ads really bog things down...and will sometimes glitch out another tab. On several occasions, I've typed something out...go to PB to get the pic...come back to a blank screen, and either say "screw it", or retype everything. Their "editor" is a dang joke...most of it doesn't even work at all. If I want to add text to the pic, the pic gets flipped, but you still have to place the text and/or whatever add-on type thing you want, in the proper position for when the pic flips back the way it's supposed to be. I've tried contacting them on several occasions, to no avail.

Photobucket has been broken since they revamped the site a few years ago. The only thing that works halfway decent is the phone app. But the app for the iPad? Pure waste of time. Between the overdose of ads and the constant push for their various products and services the site is terrible.

The last time I TRIED to use PB, I uploaded about 50 pics from a contest I attended. When I tried to post them here, I found that PB had uploaded over 80 copies of each of the pics to my account and not in the order that I had them in. Took a long time to go through them and delete all but 1 copy of each. Then, when I tried to post them, PB posted many, many copies of each to the post. Had to delete all but 1 of each before I could post it. Many e-mails later, I was told that they couldn't find anything wrong. I tried it again and got the same results. An e-mail later, was told they could see the problem but there was nothing wrong at their end. Haven't found a replacement site that I like yet.

I did not wany to pay the  yearly subscription increase with Imageshack but I renewed anyway.

I don't like the fact that they will not return emails but I haven't had a single issue in 3 years. I like how easy it is to use and the excellent picture quality you get so in essence, it's money well spent.

What problems did you have with  Imageshack? I can honestly say I heven't had an issue in the three years I e've been a mamber except them not answering back when I questioned the rate increase.

I echo PJ...I have image shack and have zero issues. It does have an annual fee but well worth it.

Wow,the App works for you Stik, since the November upgrade,it seems to be its own entity,it doesn't link with the site so you can't acess your old albums from the App.Unless I'm missing something.

The phone app works as it should. Very simple to use as a matter of fact. But the iPad app is as you say, no access to any of your photos or albums. At least I have not been able to figure out how to access them on that app. I access those on my iPad in a roundabout way, often thru here and photo that I have posted previously to get where I want.

I'm in it now, and the website loaded with no problems.

I don't use a mobile device, though, so I can't speak to that method and your results.

Also, I broke down a year ago and paid for a subscription, after I used up the free space.  It was that, or start a new account at another hosting site and take advantage of an offer of free space.  I decided it was easier to pay PB than to mess with multiple hosting sites.

I have never had any issues with Photobucket, that were specific to Photobucket.  I have run into performance problems with linked images, and with uploading images, but those had to do with my relatively slow home Internet connection, or with our web filter here at work.  For example, when I look at this or any others of my posts, I do not see my signature image rendered correctly; I just see the URL.  That's our web filter.  When I get home tonight and connect to the Internet, I will see the image without problem.

It's probably the difference between you Apple App and my Android App,I used to love it,so simple, but it doesn't do what it used to do.

Thanks for the info

I still use free  PB, but the old adage "you get what you pay for" certainly applies.

I guess it is ok for me.

PB free version is a major PIA. It locks up every time that I go on there. Its pathetic.

I've been utilizing PB for four and a half years and have had no issues with PB on my app on my iPad nor my app on my iPhone.  Everything works for a free site from my stand point.

Say Toshi, that is great to hear that you are not having problems with PB. I mean that whole heartedly. I hope that continues for you and for everyone-else that it's working for.

I just tried to post an image from the office using my work computer, and wouldn't you know it, PB crashed Windows Internet Explorer. This happens to me on two separate computers. On my home computer I use Google Chrome. The same sort of thing happens there. The PB page tries to load their adds and that ultimately locks the page, or crashes it. Usually, I have to close the page and try again. In some cases, it becomes so locked up that I have to control/alt/delete and close the program from there. The second attempt to log in is usually the charm, and I can snake my way through the garbage being thrown at me by PB. Sometimes though, it takes two to three tries just to get to a point where I can load the images.

There are no other webpages that I come across that causes the PCs that I work off of to react this way. In my mind, it is clearly something that PB is doing that causes the issues. It is pretty darn frustrating. Maybe the intent is to sway people to subscribe, I don't know. My concern with that is, what promise would I have that things would change for the better? It is a trust issue for me, before I'd plunk my money down on their questionable service.

As you can all tell...I am pretty disgusted with PB.

I agree. Although I don't use it very often to post pics. Image Shack was free when I used it. Then came a day, it won't let me have access to it. Not sure if the free uses no longer there or they started charging. Nope. Not paying for a subscription.
