Local Club now Meeting at the Veterans Home
Posted by goldhammer on Friday, March 3, 2017 10:26 AM

The modeling club in my area is now meeting at the Veteran's Home in my town (Lebanon, OR).  They used to meet in Albany, and had to move due to renovations.  The Vet's Home was very receptive to hosting them for their weekly meetings and sessions, and starting in May, will also host a Saturday session as well.  Complex staff went out of the way to help.   It is as 154 bed facility, the second in the state.

The staff scrounged up 4-5 kits that were running around loose in the complex, and we are hoping to have more of the Vets at next weeks session.  Had a couple last night.  The club members are going to work on getting more kits, depending on interest.

This was the first time I had a chance to attend and found them to be a great bunch of guys, and spending time with the couple of Vets that wandered in was great.  Plan on probably joing the club and spending those evening and Saturday sessions as often as possible.

Now that GH is a great idea, wish I had thought of it for my model club. Those fellas in there really enjoy the company and nothing like having first hand knowledge at your side for reference. Fantastic thing to do! Thank you.

we're modelers it's what we do

That sounds like a win/win for all involvEd there. The vets get visitors, and the club probably gets to hear some good tales.
