That is a great story. There are many cases like this still to be discovered.

Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!

As per a yahoo story:  He has been identified as 19 year old Hans Wunderlich.  Was unmarried with no children.  Both parents passed on several years ago, and the only sister passed in 2006, with no children.  No mention of extended family.

He may be buried in a war cemetary in Denmark since there are no next of kin.

May the young man rest in peace.

The story I read had them getting a neighbor's backhoe and going down 4-5 meters to get most of it.  Ground was more or less a bog, so it probably went in fairly deep on impact, and settled more over time.

With personel effects recovered, should not be too hard to identify the piolt, hopefully some family will be found to return effects found.

Since metal detecting is another of the hobbies I persue, this was a great find.

Phil H - That's new news to me, thanks for posting or I would have missed it. It's strange that active farm land would have concealed the wreckage, perhaps it was wooded and brushy at that time. Hope the pilot is ID'd and taken home for respectful burial.

Old news. Saw that on Friday or earlier last week. Granted it is a great find though.

He should get an A+++ for that project. He'll get thanks from the pilot's family. Great job.
