Hey Max, that is a beautiful display. Lots of good stuff in that office, but the B-17 caught my eye right away. Just fantastic.....and.....BIG. Thanks for sharing.

Found it. Quite the time consuming kit and fun to build. It is a whopper with its 27" wingspan. Hanging it was the only way to display it in the museum. It did get a ribbon at a model show a few years ago despite some glaring seams and borderline silvery decals. I recommend the kit but I don't know what to tell you about displaying it! LOL!

Hey, thanks for your comments! I'll try to find some better shots of the B-17 if you're interested.

Just a fun one I stumbled on a photo search a minute ago. The big planes spin slowly in the Museum when the central air comes on and it's an ever changing view only inches above your head. Occasionally you get an ominous view, even feeling under attack! LOL! Yikes!

Max, same here about the weather.

Two builds per year seems reasonable. Maybe someday I will get there, and I would be happy with that for sure.

And yes...the forum is a good influence. The good folks here have really challenged me to do more, and I love that.

Thanks for your comments Steve and Greg! As for being a prolific buider I'm not. I build on the average of one or two models a year. I'm old and I slowly accumulate them over the years. Model building time for me is in the dead of Winter to prevent cabin fever. Kansas can also have a Summer month of Hell when it's way too hot to be outside and idle hands need some entertainment. Both of these seasons have been moderating and along with an occassional motorcycle project, the production is down.

By looking at all my work from the past makes me try to improve my techniques further which also slows me down, however my models are getting better thanks to all the Gang's advice and encouragement. Also just seeing what great work others are doing fires me up. All positive. The Forum has been a good influence in my stop and start modeling career!

Max, you are a hoot sir. And, that is one awesome office/museum/man cave. You have a nice collection of builds too.

You guys amaze me at how prolific of builders that you are. Since I came back to the hobby I have only one finished build under my belt. There is no museum by Bakster. Just a big mess of crrrrxx, and a bunch of invisible completed projects that may or may not materialize.

Thanks for sharing, Max!

Say Max, thanks for the Yea vote. Yeah, you are only a few States over, so it's not a terrible drive. Indifferent  We can do lunch. In the meantime, you should post an image of your office museum.

Hey Steve, I never pass up a chance to show off the Museum/office. I've posted some partial shots before but never the whole room. The room is only 9'x12'. It has more than one function, mostly as a place to play, write, build models or whatever. I'm glad you requested this as I got out the photo gear and had a fun shoot. Here it is for what it's worth. It's where I hang out at times!

Wolfhammer, those are cool images of a cool display. It would be interesting to know who built it.

It would be a cool museum don't ya think? Rather than our creations collecting dust in our homes where most people won't see them, they could be collecting dust in a museum where many people could see them.

Thanks for the tip about the Naval Aviation Museum too.

I got to see the models at Pensacola, what is really cool was to see one there that was featured in FSM way back, I think it was the Enterprise.

Museum of Science and Industry has some really nice models as part of the U-505 exhibit.  Not sure who created the models.

Enjoy

Hey Steve, What? You haven't visited Max's 1/48 scale Comparitive Model Aircraft Musuem? (OK, a few other scales also.) It's really just my office but I do know the curator of the Museum personally. Actually he is I. Admission free. Seniors free. Tour, lecture, wine on request, free. Children under 6, $25. Victims are not easy to gather up for small museum viewing. We does the best we can. Call for reservations or at least to see if I'm home and to see if I need to go to the store for wine.

Max, Curator, Max's 1/48 Comparitive Aircraft Model Museum, really just my office.

Ok, bedtime , I just had to get the last word of the day in.

PS--Seriously, a good subject. Models can fill the space between limited 1/1 real exhibits and good scale representations of them. I did display most of my models at our local Library for several weeks while remodeling the Museum/office. I did get a positive reception from both the Library and viewers. I was suprised by the interest.

In the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida, not only were there real aircraft but there were incredible models of things like huge scale detailed Aircraft carriers along with others. Your "Fun Idea" is a good idea, I vote Yea!

Thanks, Don.

Maybe we should build a database of places. That would be kind of neat for people.

I know there are a few around.  There is a model car museum out in Nevada or Utah or somewhere around there.  There are several very good museums with a good section of model ships (usually by professional modelers).  I seem to remember an airport terminal with a model airplane display somewhere in the southwest.

Say Tojo--thanks for sharing that.  I followed the link and watched the video. It looks like a cool museum. Have you gone there?

Not scale plastic in many cases, but scale modeling none the less is the Entertrainment Museum in Cincinatti.

Say John, that looks very cool too. I would love to see that as well. I am taking notes. Maybe I can get to these places one day.

Not scale plastic in many cases, but scale modeling none the less is the Entertrainment Museum in Cincinatti.  Their layout has vignettes from the entire histroy of railroading in the U.S., and operating trains in I think G-scale.  See picture below for an idea of the type of detail they have added.

Neat place to spend a couple of hours if you get to Cincinatti.

Wouldn't it be cool if someone created a scale model museum that could display everyone's work? I'd pilgrimage there to see it. I imagine it would take days to go through.
