Hi Ya'll !

Yep it's true ! This Auld Phart has made another year .This past one was a bummer , But , I did make it . I read about different health issues we have and am grateful we ALL are still here.

Now that said here's what I want for my Birthday !

1-1/350 Enterprise ( Early Beehive type )

 2-A Lamborghini -500 P in 1/24

3- Good or reasonable health , and all of you to talk about model stuff with .

Good health , steady hands and lots of fun with all of you at these forums .These are the things that make life good .  I wonder if I'll get a cake this year ? I know , Make it a cake sized Chili Cheese Dog with Onions too ! That and a good Brewski will make the day. No , really . Thank you all for putting up with me this past year . You are all the present I'll need .  Tanker - Builder P.S.     Unseen WIP . Six wingy thingies with floaty thingies instead of wheels .

I got you by 5 years- I turned 79 last month.

I have seen many modeling friends drop out of modeling, or greatly reduce their work, due to those ravages of aging which can indeed make modeling more difficult.

I have found that most vision problems with aging can be mostly corrected for (I just had cateract surgery and it made a big difference).

I have had the problem of arthritic joints reducing my hand and finger agility.  While my first actions were to go to larger scales, I found I did not have sufficient space to display very many larger scale models.  So, trying the idea of use it or loose it, I have gone to 1:72 scale airplanes, 1:700 ships, and intend to try more 1:32 scale cars.

Also, I have found some tasks less frequently performed, such as rigging, can be easier if I do a little practice first with scrap materials before doing on the model I am working on.

Happy upcoming B-day.    At least you are still with us, and able to keep on building.  Your cardiologist would need a bypass if you had that CCD cakeBig Smile

Behind you by 10 as of this last month.

Happy Birthday. Hang in there and keep up the good work. In three years you'll catch up to me (77). Oh, wait, that won't happen will it. See, that's what happens as you get older, your thinking gets a little warped. Sorry you won't catch up. I'll try to wait for you though. Confused

76 in February, the good news is my 130+ kit stash will outlast me, no shortage crisis there. Wife says the hobby helps to keep me younger, maybe I'll try for 120 years, then I can finish the kits. Hate to orphan them.

A person can stand almost anything except a procession of ordinary days.

Happy Birthday!!! It damn well beats the alternative.

In spirit I will cook you a birthday dinner.

Heat one can of red hot chili con carne.

Open one bag of shredded cheddar, the really bright orange kind.

Open one super sized bag of Frito "scoops". Because you are really special to me, the barbeque ones.

Dump chili into bag, top with cheese, seal and shake a little.

This is really best eaten from the bag.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

A 4x4 club I used to belong to back in the mid-late '70s sold the lunch size bags of Fritos, cut down the side with a ladle full of chili for a $1 at an event we used to put on.  Went like hotcakes since it was muddy, wet and cold every year.  Never any leftovers with that deal, always ran out of chips and chili.

I think I'll have a chili dog tonight in your honor T.B.

Tanks, I will see you one night in the far future on a fog shrouded deck up in the Carquines. Fog horn blowing on the bridge. Mare Island to port and the C and H factory over the starboard bow.

Look for the cupped hand over the pocket watch, guy with the fedora.

Please be there.

Which is to say, and I mean it,

Ithaka (in part, the first couple of stanzas)

As you set out for Ithaka
hope your road is a long one,
full of adventure, full of discovery.
Laistrygonians, Cyclops,
angry Poseidon—don’t be afraid of them:
you’ll never find things like that on your way
as long as you keep your thoughts raised high,
as long as a rare excitement
stirs your spirit and your body.
Laistrygonians, Cyclops,
wild Poseidon—you won’t encounter them
unless you bring them along inside your soul,
unless your soul sets them up in front of you.
