HMCS Sackville back in Halifax
Posted by PFJN on Monday, June 5, 2017 5:56 PM

Hi,

I'm back in Halifax fir work and went for a walk today to see if HMCS Sackville was back at the Museum of the Atlantic (she wasn't here last time I was up here a few weeks ago).

Anyway, she was tied up out back, but had a sign that she won't be open for tours till later in the month.  I did get a few pictures of her exterior though, as shown below.

Great pics- thanks.

Also, ship modelers, note the color of the propeller.  Big ship props don't look like polished brass.  Brass and bronze are not the same alloy.

The Matchbox 1/72 kit

Hi,

I had been wanting a copy of the 1/72 scale kit ever since I was a kid, and I did pcik up a copy of it a while ago when it was re-released, so I have been wanting to see the ship while I'm in town up here.  I probably won't be starting that kit for a while though, because I fear my current modeling skills probably aren't fully up to that task yet. Surprise

After dinner today, I took a walk just in time to see the Queen Mary 2 leaving port.  In addition there was also an Italian Tall Ship training ship (the Amerigo Vespucci) in the harbor as well.  I'm just bummed that I left my camera at the hotel :(
