Posted by armor 2.0 on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 5:45 AM

With Thankgiving just a couple days away I thought it would be cool to here what everyone is thankful for.Myself I'm thankful I'm healthy have a roof over my head financial security food to eat and family to spend holidays with not to mention models to build tools to do it with .The extra money to buy this stuff. Also this great forum and all the knowledgeable people on it. That's  help me improve my modeling abilities.

armour 2.0, everything you are thankful for I am in agreement for the same.  But I’d like to add on a personal note, I’m very very thankful for Mrs. Toshi’s Proton Radiation treatment for her brain tumar is going as planned and there’s no issues at this time.  I’m also thankful in that my injury condition has been controlled with medication and that I’m able to give her the support she needs.

The few friends, both from here and other forums, and the ones in the area here.

My faith, the ability to meet my needs with some left for wants, my wife of nearly 18yrs now whom without I would cease to exsist,( metaphorically), EVERYBODY here on the forums,( yes even the ones I have been at odds with, they help me appreciate the good folks here), going on the silly side.... The NEW STAR WARS MOVIE IN DECEMBER!!!! And enough styrene to keep me busy for two lifetimes. Now those of you who choose to partake of the holiday goodness I recommend stretch waist pants, a soft easy chair, and a nap.

we're modelers it's what we do

I have to ditto everything in your post but I would like to add a couple of things. I'm also thankful for my kids turning out so great even if I wasn't always the greatest dad. I'm thankful for all the modelers I've met over the last couple of years at all the shows (local, regional, and national) that I've attended or worked. Finally, I'm thankful for the great bunch of guys and gals of my local modeling club. Reading about tricks and tips of construction is fine and seeing all the pictures of WIP and finished kits is great but having people that you can talk to and share with up close and personal is the greatest.

I heard a social commentator say on the radio the other day he thought Thanksgiving was a good thing as a national day to reflect and give thanks for what we have. Of course there is no equivalent in Australia. Heard another radio DJ decrying the onset of "Black Friday" sales in Australia which (in her opinion) had no place in this country as we don't celebrate thanksgiving. I would be curious to see if migrants from the USA who now live in Australia still celebrate thanksgiving ?

I hate shopping on Black Friday. Too many people going apesh!t over these so-called “great deals”. Hate it even more when stores open at 6 pm on Thanksgiving Day. Isn’t it a day we spend time with family instead of shopping?

Aside from the usual stuff that we're all thankful for....the "holidays" are not much fun anymore, and have actually become somewhat negative. From being HAMMERED with advertising on the tv, radio, and everywhere you look. Worst of all, my little brothers psychotic wife has done so much damage to my family, there's not much family left...pretty much just my wife, daughter, my parents and myself (older bro and fam are on the other side of the country). The family traditions we had are gone...because of that evil Censored.

Ditto

I went out once...ONCE...on "black friday". Wasn't even thinking....like it was any other day. Our little town is a madhouse on any given day...but on that day, I was ready to murder myself. NEVER again!
