Hi MCF ;

 Thanks . You know that I have found that going out with a group of like minded individuals can be refreshing . At least that's the way it felt . As Vice - President of Modeling at our Club/Museum I learned a lot .

 I am going to try to make the IPMS show here in S.A. when it happens .

Yeah Well ;

 You know my health hasn't been the greatest . I guess I am getting my stamina back . Just the knees complaining a little . The nice part , talking about all kinds of models , not just trains .

Glad you got out with the boys.  Too bad that doesn't happen more often.

That does sound like a fun weekend TB.  There is a train show coming to town soon, and I was thinking of going just because I like looking.  Not a hobby I want to start....this one stretches the finances plenty, thank you.

I attended my first meeting of the local IMPS chapter two weeks ago.  Great group of guys, and very glad that I went.  I mention this because this is a little out of my wheelhouse.  I tend to avoid group settings, but I felt at home almost immediately.  Sometimes you just have to try something new.

Glad you had such a good time!

Dwayne or Dman or just D.  All comments are welcome on my builds.

Whatta Weekend

Hi Ya'll ;

      Here's one for you . Ten members of a group . Youngest one in his thirties ? A " Field Trip " Remember those ? This is mostly model and railroad related . Now we meet after breakfast at our rail Museum . The whole excursion an Idea of a past President .

 Well , many of you not familiar with Texas need to know .There are Many , Many Model railroad clubs in the Lone Star state . Now these include Ship Models , Aircraft Models Sometimes  , Military Ground vehicles , and of course buildings too . As well as Cars .Oodles of those . And Trains of course !

 Well , A van  and suv full of folks take off for the first stop . It's a place that just looks like a warehouse . It's one of the well known rail Model Clubs in the area . WOW ! Never expected to see custom and hot rod cars in H.O.Scale . As well as an Army reserve base with the tanks and stuff . Model planes in the skies overhead !

 Second stop . A transportation Muesum . Not just trains . Although you get a short ride on a  real 1940,s train . How about a Real 1903 curved dash Oldsmobile  ! Can you say Buffalo Fire truck . Made in Buffalo N.Y. In 1927 .

 Of course the ubiquitus model trains and get this  , A very nice fore - shortened model of a Lakes Ore boat . In 1.87 scale ! Even short  , she was at least two and a half feet long !

 Well , a decent ride later I found us at a shop of hobbies . Dibbles in San Antonio . Used to be a specifically model train store . Now they've got everything . Well almost everything . I walked out with a Double Pit Road Kit of the Krivak II /Stershevoy  ship model in " Gasp  "1/700 !

 Now I have to definitely get the generic 1/700 stair and rail P.E. Set from Tom's or GMM ! Then , down to San Antonio Sunset Station for the Train Lighting ! Yup , a train Lighting ! Gosh ! it was beautimus when it lit up .

 Then Home . Well , We started at about Ten in the morning Saturday and got home about Ten saturday night . All I can say is whatta day !

 The next was Sunday at North Star mall in San Antonio for my LEGO Group ! Lot's of fun there and got lots of goodies from the train show we had last month that were held for me by one of our officers . Can you say Heavy Lift Helo with Counter rotating blades and the cargo too ? That was another four and one half hours . Geesh I am bushed .

 Now this was to show that even though there was nothing specific to what we build , it was fun . I would think a group of Plane , Armor , Car and Ship modelers would find it fun with a like group of folks to explore your state's museums and you might find a whole lot more to enjoy rather than just building and going to model shows .

   Remember , I've found much of my recent buys ( this last year ) at Flea markets and Train shows .  Now the best part ? Spending time with friends and just having a good time experiencing something together that all have an interest in . Try it , You'll like it ! T.B.
