Beware of the Amazon Inspector
Posted by Mopar Madness on Friday, December 8, 2017 3:37 PM

So, I ordered an Italeri Sd. Kfz. 3b Maultier with Flak 38 the other day because of the great price.  With PRIME shipping it was $24.00.  I generally steer clear of Amazon when it comes to buying kits, however, you can occasionally find good deals on kits.  But this was not one of those!  Check out the pics.  Yes the kit arrived somewhat built!  And the previous owner did a pretty bad job at that.  Not that I would have kept it if it were a better quality build.  Then I see a sticker on the side that states "Amazon Inspected".  Clearly the inspector who looked at this one was more concerned about where they're getting their next piercing than on product quality. So, I guess this was a return that didn’t get fully vetted before they re-sold it.  I don’t know about you guys, but recently, their packaging has gone downhill.  I ordered a TI-84 for my daughter and the calculators packaging was crushed because the kid literally shoved it in the packing box!

Over here, Amazons excessive packaging has become a joke. One guy ordered a roll of bubble wrap, protected by 140 feet of brown paper.

Hope your able to get a refund on your kit.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

That’s another reason why I will never ever order kits thru Amazon. It’s bad enough they charge too much for S&H, let alone the price for the kits.

I am curious though. Was the kit sealed with plastic wrap when you received it? Methinks Amazon resealed the kit as if you’re buying it brand new.

Bish - I did get a refund!

BlackSheep -  You are absolutely right. It wasn’t shrink-wrapped and the factory tape that kept the box closed was cut. They re-taped the box with the standard office tape.   It’s so ridiculous that it’s kind of funny. Sad

They should have sent you a new one and let you keep the old one. What are they gonna do, sell it again....?

Just my luck GM... this one was the last one!  I guess the good news is they gave me an unconditional refund.  I do have to send it back though at their the cost. However, I kind of wish they would’ve let me keep it because the flak gun was untouched.

I buy some kits on Amazon. Hasegawa and Tamiya kits are really good prices. Except for that one seller that wants 1304.58 for the Bf109 plus shippingStick out tongue

The "Inspector" needs a seeing eye dog!  Propeller

That sort of thing happens on ebay too once in a while. I'm glad you got a full refund.

Years ago, I worked at a retail store, they had a shrink wrap machine in the back room, and rewrapped everything that was returned and resold it as new, regardless of condition!  Naturally, I did not approve of this, but my complaints to the jerk manager were ignored. I didn't stay there much longer.

Gimme a pigfoot, and a bottle of beer...

Wow! I've never had anything but perfect service from Amazon.

Only bought a couple Bandai Star Wars kits from one of their affiated distributers though.

We used to buy various things from Amazon, but recently they back you into 'next day delivery' for £7.65 and straight into payment before you can stop it and change the postage deal. We get most of our stuff now from ebay which are postage free.

I only buy Kindle books from Amazon, most of which are free!

Purchased a badger krome from amazon marketplace. Didn't know that meant used and returned. It passed amazon inspection with a sticker. Missing parts and broken. screw amazon.

I have been ordering from Amazon for many years, and my experience has been same a Gamy's.

And I also agree, use caution when product is coming from a third party distributor that you are not familiar with.

I'd expect this sort of thing on ebay but am disappointed to hear from Amazon.
