IMHO, no apology was required.

Ouch TJ, that's like $458 a month! IndifferentYour state must be one of the high insurance rate ones. I know new young drivers are consired high risk but that is abusive. The yougsters get crucified before they evn get behind the wheel.

Here in Florida the insurance rates depend on the location. The farther south you go the more congested it is and higher premiums apply. Dade County and Broward are high rate counties (South Florida) and don't get me started on property taxes.Angry

At least most of you have a paid, full time employment. I worked bloody hard from the bottom up only to be f#$ked over by corporate restructuring about 10years ago. I have have struggled ever since, I fell too old to retrain in my mid 40's.

Lucky I had superanuation that I am able to access prior to 65, or I would be ashes by know.

But, I feel better that I will one day soon find something paid that is worth doing.

Ok. I work for the U.S. Postal Service. Yeah them....The station i work in has 35 routes. We are averaging over 5000 packages a day during this crazy season. I have put in two 75 hour weeks in a row. I have a mandatory day off tomorrow or I'll have worked too many days in a row with no break. The paycheck will be nice which will pay for my car insurance renewal 3 vehicles newest is 12 years old. 4 drivers one being my 18 year old son who just got his license this past summer. Are you all sitting down. $5500 for the year. No points on anyone's license. Rant over

You sound like an old Queensland Premier we had years ago.

He refused to allow daylight savings time, he was concerned that the curtains would fade and the cows wouldn't milk...

In the grand scheme of things, I’d call it a disappointing day. But nothing terrible by any stretch. And if that is the worst thing in your life right now or recently, you’re doing pretty good. We can all lament the loss of places that we enjoy from our past. But life goes on and we usually find new ways to fill that loss.

Take a look around in your life, and I bet like many of us here, you will have more good things that are taken for granted, than true bad things.  A little perspective goes a long way. Every day at work reminds me of how fortunate that I am in this life. All I have to do is look around.

What I call a VERY sad weekend is my friend who has to bury his son . We attended the funeral services yesterday driving 3 1/2 hours to Ft. Luderdale and back home last evening. To some driving 7 hours + may feel like an incoveneience but then try to imagine how a parent that has to bury his child feels like. The wife and I were there to confort him and his family, and they greatly appreciated it. RIP Jonathan.

PJ,

Sorry to hear of your friend's loss...It's a pain that never goes away when you bury your child. I hope your friend will find peace in time. My sincere condolences to your friend and his family.

Welcome to the last dying light of capitalism...

We are well into the eira of multinationals, trillions of dollars of buying power and the ability to destroy small buisness with the press of a key.

I don't live in the US, but the same can be said for most countries globally.

Support your local hobby shop if you are able, at almost any cost. Once they close, they will most likely never open again.

Rambo - don't worry, I wasn't offended. Like I already wrote, I didn't want you to feel bad or nothing the likes, just wanted to point out that we've got it quite good in our lives, otherwise we wouldn't have the time nor the "power" to do scale models. We should be thinking about that and be glad, and use that thought to overcome trouble that we see, knowing that there are other people who have it worse than we have it.

Thanks for reading and have a nice day

A bad weekend? Hardly. At least you have your health and a job. Face it, it's happening everywhere, every day - not just your area.

Pawel you are totaly right maybe bad weekend isn't the best way to describe it. I work 60 hours a week on average so having a weekend off is few and far between for me but you are totaly right it could be alot worse. The main point I was trying to float across was the dwindling away of hobby shops and other mom and pop places in general.

Hello Clint!

I don't want to annoy you or anything like that, and I also hate to see a hobby shop fade away - but I have to tell you, if you describe something like that a bad weekend, then you must live a happy and care-free life, I tell you!

Well I'm not complaining myself, doing all right, but think about all the people that are starving, fighting a war, or plain having to work all the week like the workers in China! Or health problems for that matter. I hope you know what I mean - so I wish you a nice day and good luck with your modelling projects!

Everyone is right things can always be alot worse. This was just a rant and I apologies to everyone never ment to offend. The dwindling of local hobby stores and other small business was the point I started after, I didn't bring that across at all tho. At this time of year everyone just be safe hang on to your family and spend as much time as you can with them. I apologies again hope any I offended will except it.

Thank you.
