He also started the tradition of spraying champagne after winning a race. Had just won Le Mans and they handed him the magnum of MOËT ET CHANDON. He was so excited he shook it and sprayed it over the photographers, wives and Carroll Shelby.
Of course the French were appalled, but the tradition continued.
