Thanks Jim, my wife brought me a couple of books yesterday and I'll have my iPad so I can watch Netflix if I get too tired to read.  I sat through a lot of dialysis sessions with my mom so I kind of have an idea of what to expect.  I think I'm more nervous about having the port put in than the dialysis itself.

Thanks for the prayers Gamera, I'll take all the support I can get!

So sorry to hear this, crossing my fingers you'll be back up and running soon.

And you're going on my prayer list too if you don't mind.

I still have the shunt in my arm "in case" I ever need it for dialysis again. I used it for 4 years, three days a week. It's really not too bad. The first time scared me a bit but after that it's boring sitting there for three hours and mostly sleeping. Some of the guys that were there when I was, used to play cards or chess. I was one of the chess players. If you like to read, take a good book with you.

Hope that everything works out for you. Our thoughts and prayers are on their way.

Thanks guys, I feel a bit better today but my kidney functions are lower today. It looks like I'll be in the hospital for at least the rest of the week. In addition to the biopsy tomorrow I'm going to have a temporary dialysis port put in and have a round of dialysis. The good news is the doctors have different plans depending on the results of the biopsy, and they are confident I'll eventuall make a full recovery since my kidneys were healthy before all this.

Keep your spirits up. Get well soon. And I'll share a happy birthday with you. Mine is Monday. Wish I was turning 37

I had non glomerular nephritis about 20 years ago, brought on by a strain of Strep whose protien structure closely matches kidney tissue.  Couple shots of penicillin and I came around, but I was also close to biopsy.  Glad your feeling better, hope you keep improving.  Those models won't build themselves.

Thanks,

John

Told my wife after my stroke that I needed aLOT of home quiet time. And doc suggested manual skill exercises.

Worked out pretty well.

Speaking of which, Get Well Soon!

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

I won't bore you all with the details, but I ended up going to ER last night and have been admitted to the hospital for at least the next few days. After a bout with the flu and strep throat my kidneys are working at about 10% efficiency. Right now they are monitoring me, doing regular lab work to see how things are going and have me on some meds to give my system a boost. If I start to improve on my own then they just keep observing until I can be discharged. If not, they're going to do a biopsy on Monday to see if I have an auto-immune disease.  Thankfully any talk of dialysis has stopped, and I'm feeling better than I have in three weeks. So I'm going to continue resting, get caught up on Netflix, and try not to think about the Do335 that's on the bench calling me.  Best case scenario I'll be able to celebrate my 37th birthday at home on Wednesday.
