Hello!

They say during the Battle of Britain an air raid warden noticed a beam of light shining through the shutters in one of the houses (blackout!), so he went up to the door, rang the bell and a lady opened the door. The air raid warden says "Ma'am, there's a ch1nk in your bedroom!" and the lady answers: "I'm so sorry officer, he told me he was a polish fighter pilot!"

Have a nice day

Paweł

Cool, the old Hurricane finally gets first billing in a movie.

The Polish story would make for good drama.  They despised how the Brits treated them since they already had more combat experience and yet were looked upon as less qualified.  They ended up being better at both airmanship and gunnery than anticipated, but lacked group operation skills.  They had deterimination and a bit of an ego, so mixing with the Brits would have led to a few interesting disputes.  They also might have hit it off a bit with the local girls.  So I can see why this would make a good screenplay.

Hello!

That's right, although some people feel the Polish fighters have been shown as having poor discipline (disobeying orders) and having communication problems - so it would be not fair they say.

The screenshot is cool - the book says "początki angielskiego" which is "the beginnings of english" in Polish.

They also had a good part in the Battle itself!

Have a nice day

Hello!

The 303th Squadron is the Kosciuszko Squadron - legendary Polish squadron made up from airmen that escaped from the defeated Poland in 1939 and through Romania and France ended up in Great Britain, where, after intensive training they entred the fight again just in time for BoB. At that time there were two operational Polish squadrons - 303 flying Hurricanes and 302, the Poznań squadron - flying Spitfires.

More about it here:

Wonder what's the movie going to be like? The trailer looks good. Thanks for reading and have a nice day

Wasn’t 303 the RAF Polish Squadron? The ones who were the basis for “Repeat Please” in Battle of Britain?

One of a number of Polish (& Czech?) squadrons, I think in the low 300's range.

One of my favourite anecdotes was that the limited English spoken by the pilots made instruction, particularly navigation, difficult. It's said that the pilots were instructed that if they were ever lost over the Channel, they were to use their squadron number as a compass heading and that would bring them back to the English coast.

Why does it have an American talking in the trailer? A Pom, Aussie, NZ or Canadian would have been more appropriate.

But, I look forward to watching the movie on its release.
