Best wishes to you on the move. I'm sure you'll be happy there. Get over to Asheville and see Biltmore House.

I did a lot of work in Winston Salem, always liked going out there.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

I’m sure it feels good being completely moved in. I’ve never been but I’ve heard  it’s quite nice.

Best of luck to you Anthony and your significant other. I had two friends move to NC from Washington a few years ago. I hear it's really beautiful there. Hope the kits made it in one piece. I too am moving in the next few days.

Congratulations on getting moved in.  Moving is not fun, period.  My sister moved to North Carolina several years ago after getting sick of Buffalo, NY winters.  She absolutely loves living there.

Biltmore estate is beautiful you'll love it I'm originally from Tennessee just over the hills from there. In my opinion living in and around the Smokeys is the must beautiful and peaceful place on earth. Enjoy your retirement.

Good to learn this, you've made it happen in short order. I hope your dreams of retirement in No. Carolina will all be realized, congratulations. Found any military museums to visit there?

Glad to hear the move is complete Tojo. Maybe we'll run into each other at one of the local shows some day. I'll be on the lookout for you.

Enjoy the retirement and the new locality.

Welcome to Dixie, closest you can get to heaven without dyin' Wink! Just remember "y'all" is singular, "all y'all" is plural, "y'alls is singular possessive, "all y'alls" is plural possessive. It's ok to leave the top button of your overalls unbuttoned, but not the lower ones, shirt is optional. Congratulations on the move!

I second the worth of a visit to Biltmore House. It is amazing! Be forewarned, admission is about $90, but it's a must-do at least once. The battleship North Carolina is amazing as well. And in that same vein the carrier Yorktown is an excellent visit in Charleston, SC.

Enjoy retirement Tojo, from what I have heard you'll wonder when you had time to work.

One of my favorite Sci'Fi authors live in Raighly/ Durham, sorry about the spelling, and when I was a truck driver next to the great PNW, the I40 corridor was,(is), beautiful, especially in the fall.

Good luck and get your bench up and running, you've been gone to long.

 Tojo72,

Good idea renting first.  That'll give you a chance to checkout the area after all the ...

flooding: Asheville, West North Carolina...

If you do pick a flood prone area, switch to Sailing Ship modeling. The knowledge gained on this forum will be of assistance on a 1:1 scale boat.

Good luck with the move. Ya'll take care.

Maybe we could get together for lunch or dinner or a drink one of these days and talk modelling. I sometimes travel to Hendersonville & Asheville for work (was just in Asheville yesterday), so I can let you know the next time I'm headed that way and maybe get together. Would love to finally meet someone from this site that I've been a member of for the past 15 years!
