My father's cruiser, the USS San Juan, was bombed by aircraft from the IJN Junyo at the battle of Santa Cruz in 1942. I found that it was planes from that carrier by doing some reaserch on that battle. My dad only remembers the events of the attack, not where the planes came from. They took a hit in the stern which went through them, exploded outside the hull, flooded their cigarett supplies, which was very upsetting to the crew. They also lost sterring for a while and had to go to Sydney, Australia for 2 weeks for repairs. But that's another story. So the Junyo has some family history. I've built the 1/700 scale model of it, it would be nice to do the model in 1/350 scale.
