Posting pics after quite a while.
Posted by fox on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 8:56 PM

Hi all! At 4:49 this afternoon, I tried again to post a pic to the Forums after trying many times and failing since the photobucket fiasco. Can't post a pic direct as yet but I just successfully sent a link for a pic and it worked. Yay!!!!!!!!!!!! Only problem is that in uploading my pics to the host site, it took all of them out of all the files and made 1 BIG file and mixed them all up. It's going to take a while to go through them and put them back in separate files again but I'm working on it. My better half is working on figuring out how to post the pics direct.

As T.B. said a little while back "You might be sorry". Have finished quite a few models and took quite a few WIPs during the building of each one. I am chomping at the bit to show them to you all. I'll start posting the pics (links) soon. Johnny 5 will be pleased with all the "Input".Wink

PennCon coming up in a couple of weeks. Hope to see some of you there.

Who are you using as a host site?

I post eveything from my phone and I use this app named “Imgur“ as my host site.

If you click on the photo it will lead you to the host site/app I used.

Hope this helps. By the way this is a Revell corvette I build.

Don, I am using Google Photos. My wife uses it and has no trouble with it.

Dutch-modeler, I don't have any phone except the land line. I use my wifes phone to take pics of my builds and pics of models at the shows I attend. That's all I know how to do with her phone except to plug it into my computer and download the pics. I'm looking around for an inexpensive camera that takes decent pics and isn't too complicated to use so I don't have to use her phone..

One word of advice. Don't get old. It's a b****.

When the Photobucket problem hit, I tried Google Photos and had trouble.  I have moved to Postimage and have been very satisfied.  Others I know are also satisfied.  In fact, I find it better even than Photobucket was.

Also, don't overlook the Forum Technical Assistance forum, below, since your problem (posting from a phone) is likely to be harder than posting from a computer.

Thanks for the info Don. I tried Postimage and had problems trying to open an account there so I moved on and tried others. Finally settled on Google as it is fairly easy for this old fart to understand and my wife uses it so I have help nearby if needed.

I don't post from a phone. I download all the pics that I take to a file in my computer and just upload what I'm going to send to the Forum to Google then post those pics to the Forum. The other night, I transferred all the pics I want to Google in files as they were saved in my computer (pics of P-47s, pics of swift patrol boats, pics of MIG 3s, etc). After I uploaded them, I made a quick check to see if they got there all right and found them in 1 big file in no kind of order. I'm slowly separating them back into separate files. When done, I'll start posting the ones I want on the Forum for my friends there to see. Otherwise I think I'm OK for the time being. Will be putting pics on soon. Maybe even tonight.

OK guys. Going to try posting pics for the first time in a long while. Thought that you might like to see my new work area. It's in the loft in our new (as of November) home. Hope this works.

Thanks John. It's the best I've had in all the places I've lived. It's still a little crowded there. There are boxes on the shelves that need to be unpacked yet but they are not urgent. I think that I will be able to remove one of the sets of shelves and free up a little bit of space (or keep them there for future buildsWink).

Hey Jim,

I've also been using Google temporarily for my photo-hosting, may become a permanent thing.

On your posts at my end, I see a link I need to click. That works, I'm  not complaining but a photo embedded in the post is always better.

FWIW, here is a blog post I found when I was trying to figure out how to use Google Drive as a photo host. They keep it very, very quiet. Doing it right is a bit convoluted but as you've found out, it works.

I think you are missing just one step to get your images to show embedded in your posts.

Hi Greg,

Thanks for the info. Google is the only site that I have been able to figure out and use successfully, with the help of my better half. I will certainly check out that blog post and see if this old feeble brain can use it. I certainly agree that a photo in the post is definately better. I'm just glad that I finally am able to let you all see my pics again.

You're welcome, Jim. Hope the info is helpful.

Hint: I have the blog link bookmarked and refer to it because when it's been a while since posting pic I usually need a quick refresher.

It's odd you turned to Google, I've been using 3rd party hosting sites for 20 years, and Google has by far the most convoluted process I've seen yet. The others are easier to use, IMO, but I trust Google not to go away. Not sure about the others anymore.
