A long time ago I read a short S.F. story about a crimminal who had escaped the authorities pursuining him.  Even though his stolen spacecraft was damaged he managed to safely crash land on a planet and made his way to  city in the distance.  As he made his way around he found a man named Christobal trying to get people to sign on for a expedition to find new trade routes.  There were not many takers, even with a promise of getting a handsom part of what they found.

The criminal immediately signed up andcalled the crown cowards and dared them fo come along.  They finally got enough people and se out for adventure and riches.  The criminal remembered this same thing happening on his home world and even though he found it odd they had only one ship with them he marked it off to a slightvariation on a theme.

That is until they hit the edge and fell off.

knox

I read this on a post yesterday.  ” If the earth were flat, cats would have knocked everything off of it by now. “

Whereas excitedly-running dogs would have hit the slippery parts around the edges at full speed...and slid right off, themselves. Big Smile
