I reload for a wide variety of rifle calibers and 9mm/.38/.357. Load nearly all my own hunting ammo, as someone has stated this allows to 'tune' to individual firearms. I have a shooting range friend here in Colorado Spring who owns his own company that produces polymer coated handgun bullets for reloading. I use his bullets in my practice/steel challenge meets. Yeah it's a DOT for the BRNO factory. They kept making them way after the war but it's dated 44 and has all the German proof stamps. The guy I got it from got it from a company called mitchell mauser a importer of RC K98s. All the main parts are in good shape with the black paint on them the bore and chamber look brand new the bolt is striped with a shellac over it. The stock is bright blonde with a heavy shellac it makes it look like it isn't a mauser it's also missing a band clip and the front band is being held on with a screw instead. When I get some time I'm going to refinish the stock that will go along way to making it look great and already have a new band clip. I know hardcore collectors look down their nose at RC k98 but with a bit of love they can look great and for me well I love to shoot them so it dosn't matter if it was a RC or not. Same way with my M1 Garand it was a CMP but it's a all matching Springfield. Also have a built Romanian PSL that collectors hate since it's not matching.

Probable, one party has a super majority in both houses, but not enough to make quorum rules if all but one of the other party boycott and don't show for votes.  They start the 5 month session on Tuesday,  not yet scheduled for hearings.

Isn't that illegal? That sounds like ininfringement on your rights, I'm glad I live in Indiana.

I'm not certain exactly what you have in mind, but I have made purchases in the past from a small outfit a few hours down the road from me, but it's been rifle caliber components and I can't really comment on their pistol caliber bullets because I haven't used them.  I have liked what I've used and can recommend them as a friendly company with a solid product.

I have a DOU dated 1943 it's not all matching I got it dirt cheap some one who owned it before me sporterized the stock, so I bedded a used stock to her plus used bands don't know the origins of them. I also have a reproduction scope on her I hope to replace that one day with a original. I also have a Russian capture that when I have some free time I'm going to start working on. It still has the original markings plus the X on the side it's dated 44 and Czech

 

So your RC is a DOT44 then?

My DOU45 looks brand new with a shiny bore. I did remove the Russian red shellac from the wood with denatured alcohol. I didn't want to do that but the shellac was flaking off in chunks every time you grabbed the stock. I also used denatured alcohol to remove the Russian black protective paint on the metal. What is unusual is that being made in 1945 so late in the war it was blued and not phosphated. I have a Karl Gustloff 1944 K98 (BCD44) that is phosphated in grey, silver and green. Phosphate was the German equivalent to US parkerazing.

If you really get into going through a lot of cast bullets, you might think about getting a pot and molds for whatever calibers, and casting your own.  Wheelweights will give you a semi hardcast slug.

Of course the usual disclaimer of melting and casting to be done in a well ventilated area.

Used to reload.357 and.44 years ago.  May have to start again....bill going through our state legislature to impose background check for ammunition, along with a 20 round limit in a 30 day period.  Makes it tough when you go through 100 rounds a month in .38/.357, .45, 9mm, and .380.

Tul is surplus Russian all their stuff is steel case, gun smithing is another one of my hobbies all parts wear out eventually, I built a Bulgarian circle 10 ak74 converted to 5.56 from Russian 5.45 I've put around 3000 rounds of Tul through it in the last 5 years never had a single problem with it or the ammo. One thing I do have problems finding is 8mm for my 1943 Kar 98k

 

Which manufacturer you have? I have an all matching DOU43.

I remember when Turk 8mm was $10 for each bandoleer delivered.  I have plenty of 8mm that I bought when it was dirt cheap. A spam can of 1,000 Yugo 1970’s production delivered for under $100!! I have several K98 bringbacks so they need plenty of food to digest. Remember the RC  Mausers when they first came out? They are not cheap anymore.

I reload many calibers, 30/06 for my Garand and Remington ’03A3, .30 ball for my M1 carbines, .303, 30/30, 30 Russian R .223, 45 acp, .380, 38 Super, 9mm and .38/.357 for my Colts and SWs. 

I’ve heard that Steel cases tend to be hard on the extractor . My buddy was shooting his Inland Carbine and the Wolf steel case .30 busted his extractor. I have shot about 500 rounds of Wolf steel cased carbine without an issue. Maybe the Tula ammo is better made than Wolf.

I haven’t been to a gunshow in ages so that is another reloading source I forgot about.

Ok that’s great. It’s a lot easier when someone is there to guide you along. I learned from another guy in my squad back in the 70s  who walked me thru the basics .

No, that’s one big thing that I lack- any sort of instruction manual. If we move to Arizona as planned, we have an extended family member there who  reloads and I was planning on hitting him up for guidance.

I hope The press is lubed. My RCBS press froze after being in storage After a few years. It took me a while to loosen the mechanism.

He probably gave you a loading book but get a current one that has updated loading data, very important.

I have no idea. My old neighbor gave me all his stuff several years ago when he and his wife were divorcing. I’m guessing it is single stage.

No. But I plan to start next year after I retire and move into a new home. I have most of what I need to start.

 

its a fun hobby. One can tune up any load and much cheaper than factory ammo. Which set up you have, Single stage, Semi or full progressive?
