So who else has tattoos?
Posted by Keyda81 on Monday, March 25, 2019 9:01 AM

I searched for a thread but didn't see one.  There has to be several of you fellow tattooed folks out there, so if you'd like share some pics!

I got started with tattoos right before I turned 35, so a little over 3 years ago now.  I went from having none, to ten now, lol.  If money wasn't an issue I'd probably have more!

Here's the one that started it all.  A pawprint on the inside of my right rist with my old dogs initials in it.  "Mantha's" was what I used to call her.  Her name was Samantha.

Next is inside my left arm near my elbow, the kiddo's foot print when she was a baby.

Left ankle, something to represent my love for riding my motorcycle.

This was the first "big" one. On my upper right arm.  I love wolves, the initials in the paw print are as follows, my Mom, Dad, hubby, cousin, and kiddo in the main pad.  Keyda is what my cousin called me when we were little, he couldn't say Christina yet, lol.  That's my "pack" of people.

On my upper left arm, the marigold was next, for my Nana that passed away in 2010, the lily is for my uncle that commited suicide in 2013.

Above the marigold, the blue butterfly for my Mom and purple one for my aunt.  They both love butterflies.  Nana was their Mom.

Right forearm is the Camaro for Dad.  I'm sure most of you know the story behind the car, and Dad passing in Aug 2017.

Above the Camaro is a quote from the Pink Floyd song Wish you were here.

"Running over the same old ground.  What have we found?  The same old fears.  Wish you were here."

Last one was done a couple of days ago, on my left forearm.  I had grandfathers that served in WWII, so it seemed fitting to represent them with an airplane that also served.

I plan on getting a bushel of lilacs done next to the lily on my left arm for my Mom who passed away in January this year.  Those were her favorite flower.  Just a bit too soon emotionally to get that done though.  I have a few more ideas in mind as well, just nothing written in stone yet.

So lets see everyone else's!

Nothing suitable for posting on a family-friendly site.Whistling

But that's an impressive display of fine-quality ink!

I have one that I got when I was 21, that was 30 years ago. It's a Chinese dragon fighting a hawk on my back left shoulder. I'll get a picture when I can.

Funny story, my father was in the Navy in the early 50's and he had gotten many tattoos while in the service. Later in life, he was rather embarrased by having them, even to the point of wearing a long sleeve shirt on a 90 degree day to cover them. Anyway, one of my best friends enlisted in the Marines, and my father told us, if we ever got a tattoo, he would kick our butts. Well, it took me until my late 30's to show my father I had a tattoo, and all he could say was it "looked cool". My Marine buddy never did show him all his tattoos!

Two, one on my right bicep, " " Freedom" , on my body long before Braveheart made it popular. Probably more along the lines of Janis Joplin and "Nothing left to loose". It was a Navy thing.....hold true today.

The second is a pirated trademark from the local Harley Davidson dealership known as Lone Wolf.....how I feel most of the time. In a room full of friends and family I still feel like a lone wolf.

I would like the symbol .for " Not of This World" on my left forarm to announce my spirituality then Mona AAbe on my righ to tell the world I am an american soldier, and will defend my freedom to the end.

No pix, y'all will just have to meet me to see them.

I have a dot on my left, middle-finger where I accidently stabbed myself with a Rapidograph pen (older draftsmen will know what those are).  Does that count?  Wink

Gary, I don’t think it counts.  Neither does the pencil lead tip still embedded in my left hand.  Kids, don’t try to unhook something overhead by jumping at it with a pencil.  Pain will result.  I was a really stupid kid.

Greg, Lol!  Thank you!

hogfanfs, I got started late in life.  My Mom had one before I did.  My Dad didn't have any tattoos, but didn't have anything against them either.  At that point there isn't much to say is there, lol.  I'm glad I waited and didn't get one right at that age.  I find a lot of people regret their first few tattoos if they got them young.

TB, Lol, thanks!  Well that is a very nice thing for you to do.  I wasn't even aware you could do something like that.  I suppose the skin is considered an organ.  Sounds like a cool tattoo, but anything near the ribs scares the crap out of me, I can't imagine it feels to well in that area!

Thanks Mopar Madness!

armornut, Nice!  I know what you mean about the lone wolf thing, or at least I have my interpretation of it.  I'm kind of the odd ball of the family, and don't quite fit in with everyone else.  Which is fine, I like being me.

Gary, Lol!  No you must be stabbed repeatedly, not just once, lol.

Real G, Lol, we all do dumb things as kids.  I broke my arm twice, in the same spot, 3 years apart.

Cool ink Keyda. No tattoo on me, the price kind of put me off. Wanted to have an Ironman logo on my calf (a bit o' backdoor bragging Smile)  but for the money I figured there are more important things to buy, like racing tires or cool sunglasses etc Smile

I've never been big on tattoos.  Price and my constant wanting to change something thats artistic would drive me insane.

But, to have a C-47 or a Camaro tattoo would really be my style.

castelnuovo, Tattoos aren't for everyone.  I can totally understand wanting to spend money on different things.  Hubby would rather go to the casino and gamble, or buy guns, and I just think of how many tattoos(or model kits) I could of gotten with that money, lol!

scottrc, Totally understandable.  I'm pretty picky about what I get.  It has to mean a lot to me to have it on my skin for the rest of my life.  The Camaro was for my Dad, and I love my car, as for Whiskey, I smile every time I look at that plane.  If something makes you happy screw what everyone else thinks, do it.  Big Smile

I’ve got a few. A couple are to commemorate events I was part of thru my job and the military. I’ve considered getting more stuff added to those to tell more of those stories... The other was my jump wings that I got when I finished the course.

Pwesonally, I don't have any and never really understood why someone would want one.  If they were meant to commenerate something or someone, or just to take up time in the old days when people were aboard old sailing ships and just bored out of their minds, a photo would do these days.

I think it's easier than carrying pictures around.  They won't get ruined if they get wet either.Big Smile  They aren't for everyone though.
