Dutchman, as long as you're staying in Holland, you should at least go to Overloon while you're there (unless you've already been, that is).

That on is on my short list.

I go to Scale Model World every year. I do travel a long way by train and it is an 04:30 hour start.

I normally do take vehicles to Tank fest, but this year I have history in school day's scheduled.

It was a real hump for me, but I went to Scale Model World at Telford as well as the RAF museums at Cosford and Hendon.  It was definitely worth it!  Save your pennies and go if you can; you will not regret it.

Wool, where the Tank Museum is located, is quite charming.  And not a single Starbucks to be seen anywhere!

Exactly! I'm in Germany, so flying to England to go to Bovington (not even for Tankfest, though I did go to the Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford) was not that big a deal...

I am going on a vacation to Europe and one of the stops will be the Tank Museum at Bovingon. I was wondering if anyone else was going to be there.

Kind of a silly question to be honest. Not everybody can afford to fly to Europe on a whim just to attend a Tankfest. A better question would be if anybody has been there.

Well, not really. There are a few of us on this side of the pond, so we don't need to fly to Europe on a whim. And people in Europe do tend to travel all over for these events.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Bish

Deffinetly post some pics. I haven't been for about 10 years and really need to get back. I am thinking about going for Tiger Day 13 next year.

Have a great trip over, are you planning on visiting anywhere else while your in the UK.

I will only be in the UK for the three days, but am staying on my aunts farm in Holland for about three months. I will post the pictures when I get back to the US as I will not have good enough WIFI on the farm.

Lucky duck!!!

I visited Bovington in 2014, but in November.  The B&B I stayed at was run by a couple that knew of Tankfest and told us about it.  You could hear the tanks at night.

I only got to see a EBR-75 fire up and drive out of the display area, as I believe they were changing out the displays.  Man that thing was loud and super stinky!  I also saw turretless Challengers rolling down the road outside, student drivers in training.  They were a lot quieter than I expected, like garbage trucks with no clankety clank track noise.
