I earned my private pilot certificate in July 1987. I flew regularly for a few years, two or three times a month, until the money ran out. Today, I'll try to set aside enough money to fly two or three times a year. There is a fellow at New Smyrna Beach Airport who has a J-3 Cub, a Stearman and an SNJ he gives dual instruction in. I'll fly with him in the J-3, out over the beach mostly. It's such a joy to be up there, in command, seeing all of the beauty below me.

Probably to many things to list.  But I'm happy when the hubby, kiddo, and the rest of my zoo (2 dogs, and 3 cats) are happy.  My job as stay at home Mom is making sure everyone is fed and content.  But when I get time off.....

Drums, those are great shots.

I have always been an airplane enthusiast.  Seeing the Blue Angels display their skills is something I love to do, and have traveled to admire.

God, family, and my special needs son, Jarrod....

- first bass

- concert

- throwing the first pitch with Jarrod on opening day (baseball)

- football (with the team)

- helping Jarrod in high school marching band

- prom date and being voted into the prom court

- just hanging out with pops

I believe you get the idea in this string.....

Drums - Seeing your picture story brings me joy, knowing that a young man has such a fine Dad. Yes, he needs you and you need him, a real gift in life for both of you. I freely admit a couple of tears formed, seeing how much he is loved.

My 33 year old special needs nephew, Dan, is supported by family, friends and Special "O," (I'm his bowling coach.) He was taken to his prom by six classmate girls, they were not going to see him have to ask anyone, so they decided to ask him well before the event. Limo and the whole deal, they even paid for it, exceptional young ladies.

You have my full respect and admiration, Drums, thanks for the post that made my day.

I guess you are talking about the photostream and not the picture posted? If it's these they are fleshettes from a 105mm beehive round. I forgot I even had them. The projectile had about 7 or 8 thousand of them inside if I remember right. Kind of like you better hope this works cause there is not much left.

Fermis, that bacon wrapped meat is beautiful. I'm getting a pound of homade pancetta tommorrow from a friend. I was thinking the same thing with beef filet.

Salmon in Michigan? Howdat?

The Great Lakes were stocked with em, back in the 60's ('64 IIRC). The native Lake Trout were pretty much wiped out by over fishing and lampreys. The fishery was basically dead. I think Erie (maybe even Ontario???) is the only one without salmon...but steelhead have found there way in.

We have a camp on the Manistee River...go up in Fall for the spawning "run". It has steadily been getting worse and worse every year. The state closed down the hatchery for the Big Manistee some time ago. The Native tribe offered to take it over, at no expense to the state...but...politics.

Fermis,

Great photos and life joys. That Salmon is huge....did you smoke it or grill??

Once they get that dark...the smoker is best.
The shiney ones get filleted or steaked....baked, fried, grilled...whatever suits the mood!

You guys make me hungry Smile

Baron that looks pretty tasty. What flavor of beer is that?

It's a Spaten Oktoberfest. Wow, the best beer in the world on that day at that location.

The style is a Marzen.

That Snitzel looks tasty too.

Nice call, Munich is a great place to visit.

They are nice. I also have an 8" Henckel and another no name 8". What I like about the Shun is that it's comparably light weight, which suits my own touch.

It's beyond me to hone them, but it's not expensive to have it done.

Carlos, love that barbeque. Why don't you invite us all over. Your wife would never forgive you.

My 6" and 8" Shun Damascus chef knives.

Bill,

I have heard of these knife's....are these the ones that are forged in layers of metal alloys?? If I remember corretly they are world renowned for their design and blade edge.

I have a couple shun knives and they are really nice.  I bought a couple global knives recently and they are really nice too.   I like the handles.  Not sure which are best but really like them both.

Thanks,

John

Nothing like fresh salmon or steelies out of the estuary, doused in butter and lemon, wrapped in foil and tossed on the grill.  Your backstrap/bacon would be almost tied for the lead though.
