I Salute You Sirs!

Both the Colonel and the Son that brought him home! This from an old Gunny U.S.M.C. Now that we have said this. I wonder. Why do the French behave so rudely toward us ? Our Butchers Bill in the landings should remind them that we paid a heavy price for their freedom . Viet-Nam. Never heard of it till about four years before I went there.

I am now finally getting the Thank You's We all should've gotten then . You go where the orders say. After all you did take an oath. Many, like this fine gentleman paid the ultimate price for what he thought was right. Welcome Home Sir !  Tanker - Builder

Any how, that's a good story Stik and it reminds me of how depressing our involvement, however well intentioned, in that war is. The human cost was just terrible.

Absolutely correct Bill. Not only the countless loss of life's, but the disgusting treatment they received when they came home. I am pleased that this gentleman made it home so his family has complete closure.

Saw that once at ABQ Sunport. Sobering reminders.

A number Army Viet Nam scans from hundreds yet to be done:

Is it just me but US is realy going the extra mile to bring soldiers home.

Not really. It's hard because the landlords blackmail value for them. I often wonder if it's so worth it.

Good to hear stories like this. Sad for sure, but at least there is a closure for the family. I wish there are more stories like this. Sometimes there are articles about WW1 remains found and plenty of remains found in ex USSR teritory but it seems few are indentified.

52 years after being shot down over Laos and listed as MIA, and 45 years after having being declared dead, the remains of Col. Roy Knight Jr have returned to Dallas Texas. Flown on an aircraft piloted by his son, who was 5 years old when he last saw him at the same airport.
