For what it is worth you and so many others have been in my thoughts and prayers as well. I have been a lurker for way to long on the forums primarily due to family commitments and honestly my emotional energy being spent on other things. My family knows the concern and stress you and your family are going through. My daughter and two grandkids have moved in with us temporarily because my son-in-law works in a large hospital in Indianapolis as an OT assistant and part of his ward is being prepared for an expected large influx of Covid cases. We all decided that it would be best to move our daughter and grandkids here to NC temporarily until he can get back to a less risky work situation. He is an amazing young man, he served several years in the Marine Corps doing multiple combat deployments and almost did not survive his last deployment during Operation Phantom Fury in Iraq. Unfortunately he was one of those that got lost in the VA system when he was medically discharged due to the severity of his injuries. They were almost financially ruined due to the govt. taking a decade to get his first partial disability checks started. Through it all he toughed it out (Improvise, Adapt, Overcome), went to school and became an OT assistant. Now early last week he receives a call from an officer in Kentucky telling him that due to his Marine Corps experience and civilian occupation he will be called back to active duty and deployed to either NY City or Seattle. After a long discussion they consented to let him obtain a new set of CT scans on his spine and have them sent to Walter Reid for evaluation. No word yet on whether he will have to deploy or not and we are also holding our breath due to the fact that my daughter was an Army aviation medic in the National Guard and an EMT in the civilian world. These are strange times indeed and I am realizing I have taken too many things and too many people for granted for way too long. I have obviously always had an appreciation for our military personnel and law enforcement/first responders but I have been reminded recently of the countless medical professionals, grocery store workers, construction workers, factory workers, truck drivers, small business people etc. that make my life so pleasant and easy every single day. I don’t ever plan to forget that again and will be much more proactive about thanking those folks when I see them. Thanks and prayers to all of you in these trying times and risky occupations and please stay safe.
