Do you know what this says?
Posted by armornut on Sunday, August 16, 2020 4:51 PM

*****CAUTION the second F is a foul word so PLEASE lets keep it "G" rated if ya figure it out****

I will in time give the"G" rated answer if no one figures it out but it could be a fun thread.

Allow me to set this up....I was working on a Cessna Citation S550 and noticed a placard on the instument panel which took me 3 days to figure out, it was....

        DFTPTFWD

If you can figure it out then please put something up for us to figure out.

As stated above PLEASE keep it "G" rated so we can have a laugh.

I find it mildly disturbing that a person holding a type rating in a Citation feels the need to have this on the panel, even as a joke. Surprise

That said, it's still pretty funny. Smile

But. then, look at how many times pilots have landed a Piper Arrow gear up.

I have heard this attributed to Paul Poberezney, but I suspect it is older than that- "There are those pilots who have landed gear up, and those who WILL."

I've seen some funny ones in various aircraft over the years.

A Vans RV-4 I was working on had a bright orange placard on the panel that said "Don't do anything stupid."

A Beech Baron had one that said "If you must smoke, please step outside."

"You can have my illegal fireworks when you pry them from my cold, dead fingers...which are...over there somewhere."

I seen a video in A/P school where two guys were flying alomg fat dumb and happy, on final, flaps down, power retarded, and a wierd horn honking in the cabin....the next sound was the unmistakeable sound of aluminium scraping on the tarmac followed nearly simultaneously by the dead silence of a destroyed piston engine. Stupid pilot tricks.

I was riding in a MUTT. The placard on the dash said "sudden turns mean sudden death".

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Not aviation related, but still...

Following a car on the way to work one morning.  Had a vanity plate on it from Washington...."SPTNKTN ".  Couldn't figure it out until they hit the turn signal.

It started blinking in the sequential pattern.....late 60's Cougar.  About ran off the road laughing.  Spittin kitten.

"Sudden turns means Sudden death"  can't say the Army didn't warn ya LOL.

Spitten Kitten, now that is cool. I had one that said " Got2Go".... Got a few laughs from the WSP and really ticked off the Georgia DOT.

While not a placard in the a/c, our local FBO/instructor, would tell you either " two solid objects can't share the same given space at the same given time, gracefully", or " a mid air will ruin your whole day" when you got fixated on either the ip or straight ahead.

Was usually accompanied with a light backhand slap above the ear and a yelled " SCAN".  After a couple of those your head was on a swivel on the ground and in flight.

As anyone who has spent time in the military will tell you, as you gain seniority, you also gain colateral duties. In the Navy you have Divisional Supply Petty Officer, or Divisional Damage Control Petty Officer, or Command Training Team, etc.

I had a nametag made up that I wore while standing the very formal 'In-Port Officer of the Deck' watch on the ship's quarterdeck. It even had the command logo attached to it so it looked official. It said COMMAND DILLIGAF OFFICER.

Since I always appeared 'squared away', I wore that thing for a year without anyone even questioning it!!!

Of similar general militaria, the Army says "Hoo-ah", the Marine Corps says "Oo-Rah", The Navy says "Hoo-Yah", and the Air Force says "Can I have a juice box now?".

As a life member of the VFW and Oregon Band of Brothers, and having worked in and have family in law enforcement, I have the deepest respect for ALL of my brothers and sisters in ALL of our armed forces and police / law enforcement agencies.

That being said, when the boys git to drinking and enjoying themselves, all the rivalries come out to play!

.  .  .  And if the Aussies or Kiwis are there, stand by for some serious entertainment; cuz heaven won't have us and hell's afraid we'll take over!!!
