After 8 months in our new home here in Arizona, and multiple delays for various reasons, my hobby display room now has its first set of shelves. Through a new friend here, we were introduced to a friend of theirs who is starting up his own contractor/handyman business after years of working for someone else. He made these maple shelves as stage one of a two stage project for my man cave.
Each section is 4 feet wide, so this wall has a total of 12 feet of display shelving.
Now to start getting my builds out of storage and onto these shelves...

Bill, 96 feet indeed! A LOT of shelf space. This guy does some seriously good work.
Tony, nope, no glass. A bit out of my price range on what I could afford for now. So it will be the usual periodic dusting of these.

Nick, no need to buy more kits. I have a more than adequate stash. Now I just need to build them!
All of my armor builds have been placed on their new home! Aircraft start tomorow.

Very impressive. How does someone move all those very delicate models? Please forgive me if you addressed that in a previous post. How do you decide what location the models go on the shelf? The best ones at eye level and not so favorite ones on the bottom?
Well that is super cool. I hope to start the same thing next year when we move. Your room is very nice and super cool. But, you will need way more space. Right?

Thanks WP. I packed them all up starting in summer 2019. The armor builds were easy, just using foam padding in between and sheeting underneath in large low Tupperware bins, and very careful handling of the bins once packed. For the aircraft builds, I used Tojo’s method of polyfil fiber toy and pillow stuffing to suspend the builds within the Tupperware containers.
These are the built kits in their containers plus a few larger kits from the stash in the same area of the room before the shelf unit.
Looks like a real labor of love. Moving is such a pain in the a** I can't imagine the care taken to move the aircraft. Enjoy the new home.

Thanks Paul. Moving is a major PITA. This is my last one, our forever home. I’m leaving this place in a body bag on a gurney.
Thankfully, aside from a few small things that look to have vibrated loose during the drive here, the aircraft unpacked so far have been remarkably intact. Cleaning off the last few stuffing fibers is more tedious!

Tony, I had two big garbage bags overflowing with stuffing. Fortunately my neighbor sews stuff and she was overjoyed to take the stuff off of my hands.
Jim, I can’t believe that nearly all of my builds fit on this set up. I am so looking forward to getting the room completed.

Chad, that is serious amount of display real estate indeed! Worth every cent that I payed for this!
CT, I truly respect the craftsmanship and skill that the guy put into this. He does fantastic work. Anybody in the Phoenix AZ area who needs something like this, I highly recommend him.
RG, it’s getting there. The next phase will really make the room killer.
Keyser, the second one is already in the planning stage. Once it’s done I can build and display some larger models again!

I’m happy with my hobby area, but I willl admit to the vicarious enjoyment I experience when forum members update or rebuild their man caves. Your space looks great, and I’m sure it’s only going to get better. The shelves are beautiful.
And now, it’s just about all done... (he forgot to bring the parts for the toe kicks under the cabinets. They are sitting in his garage cut, stained, and varnished, just needing to be installed)
