Masters of the Air

Seems like Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg are working on their next WWII drama,  "Masters of the Air", about the 8th Air Force in WWII.  I hope its better than "The Pacific".

Looking forward to it.  There is another thread somewhere on this subject.  I'm curious how they will handle the casualty rate of the 8th.
I liked the Pacific.  The problem with the Pacific theater is theres no way to tell the story that isn't horrible.

Thanks,

John

That might be pushing it. If they're doing filming now, figure another year of post production with CGI once filming wraps up. This year is half over already. I'd wager a 2023 release more likely. That would mark the 80 year anniversary of the highest loss rate missions in summer of '43. From what I've read on the series, they look to be using the 100th Bomb Group as their focus point.

Ye, your probably right, had not thougt of that, pity really.

Its being filmed at Dalton Barracks, named after James Dalton who won the VC at Rorkes Drift.

I think the Bloody 100th is a fitting Group, especially with the Square D is flying in the skies around here.

Wasn't ANYTHING wrong with The Pacific...just as good as Band of Brothers however it was meant to focus on a few key individuals instead a whole company. The 3 individuals ? A MOH Awardee {John Basilone} and 2 guys {Robert Leckie & Eugene Sledge} who wrote some of the best books concerning the war in the pacific.
