Awesome Pawel! great photos.
I long to live in a world where chickens can cross the road without having their motives questioned
Tanker-Builder Hi;EagleCash 867! In case you see one again. A Luna Moth has grey leading edges to it's wings .They curve gently aft from the body to the tip. They are very light Green in color with a Darkish blue spot on each wing. They can be somewhat large too!
Hi;EagleCash 867!

A couple years we got Luna Mothes all over the place at work. Some years we get them and some we don't- not sure why.
Personally I think the Sphinx moth is about the coolest. As a kid we were playing at a neighbors house around twilight and one came and was refueling from their mom's flowers. Just hovered there like a big fat fuzzy hummingbird while it stuck it's tongue up into each flower and sucked the nectar out.

Well, it's not scorpions or rattlers but I have seen a butterfly walk all over a cow patty and then come flying at my face.
No thanks Mister Poopyfeet, take your butterfly kisses elsewhere...
Think scorpions are bad?
One time when I was a kid we went to Picatinny Arsenal on the other side of town for their Armed Forces Day open house. While looking at some of the personel gear from the parachute team they were talking about the guy who had just landed that had a rattle snake deploy with his chute. He saw it go by and was pretty sure it didn't survive.
Hi Pawel!
Hey, I can think of worse things in your man cave. How about a Scorpion dropping in, out of the Air-Conditioning vent? That can happen in Texas. Now when I was a teen I studied Luna Moths. The largest I saw had a 5-1/2 " wingspan.
Surprisingly there more beautiful Moths than actual " Butterflies", The Luna can be one of the biggest as well. That one you have is Beautiful. Did you know that the color in it's wings comes from little scales on the surface?
Scorpions are MOST Dangerous when small. Unlike the adults, when the young un's sting they use ALL their poison in one shot. The Adults will hold back after one sting, In case they have to sting their captor or prey a second or third time.
In all my life I have never been stung by a MOTH or BUTTERFLY.
We once had a moth show up in our hangar and land on a guy's roll-away to rest. It looked exactly like one of the miller moths that were everywhere that time of year...but it had about a 6 inch wingspan. Don't know what kind of moth it was, but it could very well have been mothra. Wish I could have gotten a picture of that once-in-a-lifetime sighting, but that was before pocket-sized celphones and digital cameras. It was pretty noisy in the hangar with the door open, but every once in a while, I'd swear I heard singing, and it sounded like Japanese.
The truth is out there....
"You can have my illegal fireworks when you pry them from my cold, dead fingers...which are...over there somewhere."
Lol, well it was a couple months ago I saw it, it could have grown to kaiju size by now.
I didn't see any fairie women nor heard any singing.
Also look out for a couple very small women, it could be a sign.
Didn't Mothra start out like this? Keep him away from the microwaves.
Hey Pawel and Tojo- those are beautiful guys!!!
I snapped a few shots of this lil' guy a couple months ago. He/she was about two inches/ seven centimeters long:
Very cool, their variety is endless, here are some from the butterflyhouse at the Asheboro Zoo
Hello everybody! Thanks a lot for your comments!
I read we're (on earth) losing the insects... We thought they can survive everything - looks like it's not the case... So now when I see a nice one like this - or even a mosquito - I'm a little happy.
bob - I didn't see the movie, have to look it up!
scott - such garden is a very good idea, there should be more of them instead of those sterile lawns.
greg - that would explain why I first saw one of them at nighttime...
Thanks again and have a nice day
Paweł

Not strictly a butterfly -- looks to be an Emperor Moth...also called a Peacock Moth, for fairly obvious reasons.
Cool.

Very pretty.
My wife got into serious gardening a few years ago with building what she calls a "bird, bee, and butterfly garden with plants that will attract and nuture all three. This year, my front yard has been loaded with many different types of bees and butterflies along with many different colors of hummingbirds. Its been fun and relaxing to see all the activity.
Good looking little thing, we see so few around here for some reason.
Enjoy him, it could be worse, ever see the movie THEM?
So purty.
“Ya ya ya, unicorn papoi!”
Speak for yourself. Butterflies scare the hell out of me!
Just kidding of course. Nice pics!
Beautiful
Thanks,
John
Hello!
Here in Poland it's definitely autumn... In my man-cave I've had a non-typical non-scary visitor, too! Let one out of the window, an hour later another one showed up... OK, that room IS messy but the thought of animals breeding here is a little disturbing... Anyhow, here are the photos:
Thanks for lookin' and have a nice day!
