Goldhammer: I'd rather a huntsman than your tarantulas! And as for using a 12 g. on it, the buggers got more arms than me and he's a damn sight faster. Would probably rip it out of my arms and hunt me......

ikar01: You are are right, the funnel web is much nastier and bulkier in the body, but the huntsman has a bigger overall spread. Just quietly, you can keep your banana spiders, tarantulas and black/brown widows. I'll happily stick with Harry.

Lurch: I've seen photos of those camel spiders from mates who served in the sandpit. Don't ever want to eyeball a real one!

When I was in Irac we had camel spiders and they got huge. They were nasty and scary looking . I hated them.

We have widows and recluses out here, but at least we don't need a 12ga to deal with them

Isn't the funnel web bigger and nastier that that one?I've never been there and never will be but I heard they were something to be avoided.

In Okinawa we had banana spiders, huge things and very fast.  Fortunately they tried to stay away from people if they could.

Here we have the ocasional Black Widow, heavily armored and can give a nasty bite that could take months to get over.  The Brown Widow is larger, faster, I think just as venomous and sometimes I think bordering on intellegent.  I sprayed one once and put it into a plastic box to show my new neighbor what I was talking about  when describing them.  It layed upside down all day with its legs folded as they will do when hit with spray.  When I went to show it to my neighbor when he got home from work, I open the box lid and as soon as I did it flipped over on its legs and ran for the opening.  I immediately dumped the box and it got away.

I complain sometimes about the cold weather we have to deal with here in north western Canada.

The good thing about the cold weather we have it keeps the bugs from getting big.

Aww, come on people - I wouldn't want to hug a spider, but they are just like us - I mean they are building all the time! Show them some affection! Think about it - most of them are girls (males often get eaten) - what's not to like about girls who like to build and hunt? Eh?

That's a big one.  We have tarantualas where I live but they keep to themselves outside - except for one guy that must have got lost and somehow wandered into my pantry where our little dog cornered it.  Poor spider was terrified and gladly walked into my tupperware.  I released him outside to hunt insects :)

The only thing in this world that I hate more than a spider, is two spiders.

I saw a seven cm spider a couple months ago and thought it was friggin' huge...

   As he probably really does not mean to scare or harm me....he drops on me and it would be the last thing the poor fella does. Not hate just fear.

Since I'm not a fan of anything with more than 4 legs, you can have them.

Almost as big as out tarantula.

That is creepy looking. When you have them in your house what do you do with them?
