You got me to pull it up, and watch it again.

He played Kurt, driver of the herding/chase jeep, when the Indian got horned, and led the leopard out when Dallas was in the tub.

The one I remember getting horned by the Rhino was a older guy in his 50s or somewhere around there.  I think they called him the indian

You're right.     Maybe broke an arm or leg and was out of action.

The zoo representative was the female lead that became baby elephant mama

I specially like the movie "The one that got away," playing Von Werra.

He served in the 38th SS but refused to shoot a squad of GIs and was sentenced to death for cowardice. One particular SS officer interviened and saved him from a firing squad. He later deserted and hid till the end of the war.

I really liked the 1965 flight of the Phoenix .

Ditto. I always thought it would make a cool diorama.

I love the part when these guys are toiling away converting the wreckage under his engineering guidance only to later find out, he was model plane engineer, not an 1:1 aircraft engineer. Lol. As he states, the engineering is the same, but the looks on their faces, PRICELESS.

That thing they buit really did fly.  It also crashed during the filming when it was landing.  Either something broke or it hit something on the ground.  The pilot was killed when it flipped over.  The pilot had a lot of experience crashing aircraft.  Ever watch 12 o'clock high?  He did many of the B-17 crashes in the show and maybe the movie.  That's one way to use up planes that were to be scrapped anyway.

Yep, my favorite performance of his!  Of course, Flight of The Phoenix is one of my all-time favorite films.  Jimmy Stewart, Richard Attenborough, Peter Finch, et al., what a great cast!  A shame they did such a horrible job with the remake, they should have just left it alone.

He was the protector with the rifle, IIRC he got horned and they brought in another guy while he was out.

You're absolutely right. This guy was created to play Nazies in war movies.

I've seen many of them too. Didn't know about his early SS career.

He passed away in late January at the age of 93.

This guy was created to play Nazies in war movies. In fact he served briefly in the SS at the age of 16 before the war ended.
