Just a saw an article in our paper that Gail S. Halvorsen passed away on Wednesday, 16 July, at 101 years of age.
Was well known for dropping candy and gum to the kids in Berlin during the airlift. His generosity caused other aircrews and donations of candy, gum, and handkerchiefs (the parachutes), as well as from people all over.
Still revered by the kids of that era.
