Finally broke down and got a new computer. It's a Lenovo all in one: computer built into the moniter. No more kicking the tower with my"boot".Also needed to get a new printer because that wasn't going to be supported by Windows 8 either. Thats what irked me the most, HP printer that worked great.Downloaded World of Tanks and now I'm hooked.Even got a 30$ controller too. Guess I'm 59 going on 12 LOL. Can't help it, it's a blast. So far everything works good and no problems yet. So long for now.

A few years ago I got my Disability from the V.A. and one of the things I got first was a laptop for my wife since her computer was dieing anyway and she decided on a laptop. I still use a tower since I don't go to very many places, none of which I would need a computer, not that I do much on this thing anyway.

Yeah, a few years ago, I didn't use my vacation days and cashed them out and used the money to buy a gaming laptop at Walmart.

It runs World of Warcraft just fine and surfs model websites and face book.

An IPad.

there is no need for a full desktop pc if that's all you use it for....

I agree.  My wife has done that.  She uses the laptop for all internet contact, disconnected her win7 machine from wifi.  It is a good powerful machine she uses for video editing.

Ditto. I have been a Dell customer for years and their machines have performed well for me. I have both a laptop and desktop. Pros and cons to both platforms. For raw speed and processing power I most often use the desktop. Depends on your needs.

Good luck!

I got a message on my computer today that Windows 8.1 will no longer be supported after 1-10-2023. I know I'm probably behind the times, but I always am. So.now what. I either find out if my computer can support Windows 11, or buy a new one. Old one is 8 yrs. old now. I don't know much about these things so I just might buy a new one and be done with it. Might as well be up to date for once in my life. I don't use it for much. grocery shopping, banking, buying models (of course) some boom stick stuff, junk off Amozon and general surfing. No games though.I know I don't want a laptop.Due to desk space, don't want an all-in-one either. Just want replace the tower. Have a HP now and works good. I guess what I'm asking is, what would people recommend without getting too technical or being too expensive ($500).My limited search so far doesn't seem to be too many options.Giving the supply chain issues now, should I buy now or wait for a killer deal(yeah right).Anyway, Thanks for any and all input. I need all the help I can get. Thanks ,BBx2.
